You're probably right, the voters look at the whole game's performance, and the fact that Pryor doesn't play the whole game just might have hurt him in the polls. That's ok, he'll stay healthy through the rest of his High School career and be ready to roll when he comes into Columbus. And besides, why win a High School award when you can win a Heisman?

I doubt it will matter too much to Pryor in the next couple of years when he is starting for a D-1 Powerhouse in the National Championship and Heisman hunt...... at wherever he decides to go.

Class cutters suspended

Bethlehem Liberty, the Post-Gazette's No. 2 team in PIAA Class AAAA behind Central Catholic, suspended four starters for cutting class at the end of the school day. But Liberty still rolled past Allentown Dieruff, 37-0.
One of the suspended starters was running back/linebacker Brendan Beale, considered one of the best players in the state. Dieruff came in with an 0-4 record.
"I know people will say we did that just because it was Dieruff, but those kids made a mistake," Liberty coach Tim Moncman told the Allentown Morning Call. "Hopefully, they won't make it again."

Looks like Pryor is coming to North Carolina to play basketball in a high school holiday tourney in the Charlotte area. His team (Jeanette, PA) is slated to play South Atlanta on 12/27. Looks like Cinci Moeller is in the tourney also. Play is from 12/27 through 12/29.

Dell Curry, Jay Bilas and Steve Smith (Panther's WR) are lending their name to the event.

I may make the short trip to watch Pryor play BB.......and I will be wearing my Buckeye gear...

Jeannette's Terrell Pryor is a little more than 100 yards shy of 4,000 yards rushing in his career.

Jeannette's season has been so easy, coach Ray Reitz always hopes for something to motivate his team for every game. But he believes there will be no motivational problem this week.
Jeannette (14-0) plays Wilmington (13-1) in a PIAA Class AA semifinal Saturday afternoon at Slippery Rock University. Wilmington, a District 10 school which used to play in the WPIAL until the late 1980s, features Chris Burns, a running back who has caught the attention of Jeannette.
Burns is a Pitt recruit who has rushed for 1,901 yards on 208 attempts this season. A 5-foot-10, 190-pound senior, Burns also has scored 32 touchdowns.
"I think any kid who is going against a Division I college player from another team, it gets them juiced up," Reitz said. "I know a lot of our kids want to play against him. I think it's a pride thing for our kids, to show how good they are. But I don't think it's just here. I think it's like that everywhere."

Pitt still not on Pryor's radar

Pitt's upset victory against West Virginia impressed Jeannette quarterback Terrelle Pryor, but arguably the nation's No. 1 recruit said Tuesday that the Panthers remain off his list of preferred universities.

That hasn't stopped members of the Pitt coaching staff from communicating with Pryor, who's considering West Virginia, Ohio State, Florida, Tennessee, Texas and Penn State.

"Pitt's not back in the picture just because it defeated West Virginia," Pryor said. "Pitt played a real tough game, but that doesn't change my mind about West Virginia or any other school. Stuff happens."

Pryor said he heard from other people that Pitt coaches would change the offense for him. But he added that he hears similar remarks from coaches at other schools.

Pryor is trying to become the first player in WPIAL history to pass and run for more than 4,000 yards. His 169 yards passing against Karns City in the PIAA Class AA quarterfinals last Saturday put him at 4,024. He has 3,883 on the ground.

College coaches from several areas of the country have been seen in Jeannette the past few weeks visiting the 6-foot-5 1/2, 220-pound senior.

Oregon coach Mike Bellotti was at Jeannette High School yesterday, and West Virginia assistant coach Tony Gibson and Florida assistant coach Dan Mullen were at practice. Coaches from Division II Gannon and Glenville State also were there, looking at other Jeannette players.

Last week, Penn State coaches Tom Bradley and Jay Paterno attended a practice, and Ohio State assistant Joe Daniels arrived the next day.

"I listen to what they have to say," Pryor said. "I'm not ready to make up my mind. I'll do that on Feb. 6 (2008)."

he reminds me a tiny bit of pre-nba lebron with all the media attention and demands...
..i don't think he'll have a problem adjusting to the big stage..no matter what university he attends.

I agree completely. This kid has been told he is really good by a lot of people and it isn't too big for him because he knows he's good. You see a lot of hyped recruits that are then put under the lights on ESPN or in big games and you can tell they are nervous and they succumb to the pressure a bit or they go out and play well but the audience isn't that impressed because the guy is good but not anything so special as to actually justify the hype.

I remember first watching Lebron in that hyped ESPN game and he went out and was dominating, making shots, and throwing down dunks that are ridiculous by NBA standards, much less for a high schooler. No nerves because Lebron knew he wasn't just false hype but that he could be great. I get the same impression while seeing how Terrelle played on ESPN, how he played when Tressel was there to see firsthand if he was for real, and how he played in the WPIAL final with everyone curious to see if he was as good as they had heard.

It seems like he doesn't like all the attention but he is the one who is willing to wait until Feb. 6th, so I'm sure he has silently consented to the fact that the media's going to be on him like a hobo on a ham sandwich. Terrelle has his mind made up barring a miracle but he wants some suspense, which is fine since I think he is the most talented recruit in quite some time. Would it be a sin to say he may be the most talented recruit at the HS level in 10 years? 20?
