At BP, we don't like panic attacks, ledge jumpers, and sky is falling types, and we don't like our news threads deteriorating into a bunch of senseless, irrelevant BS. Keep it clean, keep it reasonable, and keep it on point, or find somewhere else to post. Congrats on the hat trick, Thunder. Who's next...? |

How about if we all play the "Stay off the Pryor thread, unless you have real info" game for the next 6 weeks?

For those worrying about Pryor wanting a system "built around" him or "featuring" him, IIRC he had mentioned the possibility of him redshirting. Now, it may be me, but kids who desire the offense be built around them don't usually consider redshirting. OSU is the best fit for him football-wise, basketball-wise, and staff-wise, and he knows it.

I think it's quite important to note something....
We're recruitniks... the reason this thread is so "hot" and we're all so worried about what RR to Mich does to the recruitment of TP is a function of the fact that we've all choosen to follow this as closely as we can. that is to say, we want to know NOW what Pryor's gonna do. I don't know why we do this, but we do. Contrast that with..... Jim Tressel. You think you're worried about what Pryor might do? Imagine what Tressel is doing. I suppose I should qualify that.... I'll tell you what I doubt JT is doing... sitting around worrying and refusing to act. That is, we can only worry.. Tressel can act. This circus can't possibly be a surprise to JT and the staff. This circus is US... because we're recruitniks. I've watched Ohio State football pretty closely and I am supremely confident that Tressel is doing everything he can, and within his particular nature as a person, to see to it that TP makes the best choice for him (which would hopefully be Ohio State.... but keep in mind also, while we LOVE Ohio State, we should also recognize that Ohio State is not all things to all people. What I want for TP is for him to make the correct choice for him, not for me. Yes, I want him to come play football in Columbus. I want it badly. But, it's not up to me) Anyway... Right now this is a hot topic because we've got a huge recruit and a new situation. We've also got a young man making an important decision about the next 4 years or so of his life. He's not struck me as the type to go off half cocked and make an impulse decision. That hasn't changed with RR to Mich. Speculating that it has changed that is insulting to everyone involved. Michigan may end up with TP. I personally doubt it. But, if they do.. it's not going to be because RR went from WVU to Mich. It's going to be because TP decided Mich was the right school for him. Again, in as much as I've followed this for a while, it is my belief that he will not decide that about Michigan. But, he's doing himself the service of looking in to it. As well he should. |

Yes, but scUM's track record is very impressive. heck, Todd Collins got a start this week. That idiot john Navarre started a game with the CArdinals a year or so ago. Greisball is still in the league. RR notwithstanding, there is no comparison between OSU and scUM in developing QBs for the NFL. |

But RR is a different nut from a different tree with a different philosophy. This point is enormous. He has done wonders with Pat White as a QB because IIRC nobody else wanted to even recruit him at that position. But here he is an all start Big East QB. But he reads zone blocks, not zone secondaries. His progression is pretty much I am covered, Slaton is covered, I better dump this thing off. His passing numbers are remarkable in their sparcity for a team that generates this much offense. WVU scored 66 points against UConn and White threw the ball 13 times for 107 yards. And this, but his own admission, is the only O RR knows. It is a mistake for this kid to go to UM if he wants to be an NFL QB unless he thinks the Patriots are going to move to a spread option. |

One of "our" guys went to the school today to do a presentation. TP just peaked in during lunch threw up a quick wave!!! I told the guys in the office I want you to set up another visit so that I can go there in a
"BRUTUS BUCKEYE" mascot uniform. Don't know if this will make the board moderator mad don't really mean to. Just want to lighten up the situation around here. It's just that being a die hard fan and only 5 miles away from TP makes it all more crazy for myself and going to almost all of his home games. |

If TP comes to OSU...I wonder if, when TP is ready, Tress would incorporate a portion of the zone read? If TP comes and competing for a starting job in let's say 2009...I would think he would run the a version of the "spread" attack, but given the current stable of underclassmen backs and receivers, I think he would have to incorporate them more into the O than what WVU does with White. Maybe a 55-45 run/pass balance? I guess my ultimate question is what form of the spread takes the most advantage of TP? |

I think if he went to Michigan he'd be more Vince Young than Pat White.
Why does Rodriguez run the ball so much at WVU? Simple. He doesn't have very good wide receivers on his team and Pat White is not a good thrower. I cannot emphasize those two points enough. Michigan will never be short on receiving talent. Off the top of my head, over the last 15 years they've had; Desmond Howard, Amani Toomer, Tai Streets, Derrick Alexander, David Terrell, Marquise Walker, Jason Avant, Braylon Edwards, and Steve Breaston all get drafted and spend time in the NFL. Mario Manningham and Adrian Arrington are pretty much sure bets to join those guys as NFL players pretty soon. I might be forgetting some as well. I don't buy for a second that the guy is going to be pigeon holed into being Pat White part deux. West Virginia just doesn't get very much receiving talent and Pat White just cannot throw the football. |
