Not a couple months after 2002 NLOID. Clarett was hyped, but not to the degree Pryor has been. I would submit to you that if Tressel were to announce right now that Pryor's number would indeed be 11, whatever stock of #11 jerseys that stores had left would get sold out within days, if not hours.

Ending Suspense, Top Prospect Pryor Picks Ohio State

JEANNETTE, Pa. ? Terrelle Pryor had been telling people for a day that he was going to play quarterback at Ohio State.

But Wednesday morning, the day when Pryor, one of the country?s most sought-after high school football players, was going to make his decision public, he was so nervous he could not eat breakfast. To calm his nerves before heading to Jeannette High School, about 30 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, the 18-year-old Pryor did what countless indecisive young men before him have done: He called his grandmother.

?He said, ?Grandma, I?m going to make a big decision and I need help,? ? said Marlene Arnold, his paternal grandmother. ?And I said, ?Did you call to pray?? He said he did, so we prayed to God to ask him to help Terrelle make the right choice.?

What drew him to Ohio State was a variety of factors, from the quality of the Buckeyes? offensive lineman, his familiarity and comfort with many of the players, and that he would not have to jump in and start right away, because the Buckeyes? senior quarterback, Todd Boeckman, is returning.

He said he also liked Ohio State Coach Jim Tressel?s idea of using him his first year the way Florida used quarterback Tim Tebow, last year?s Heisman Trophy winner. Tebow was a backup as a freshman, coming in primarily for running plays.

Ultimately, though, it came down to one thing. ?I just feel comfortable with Coach Tressel,? Pryor said.

Tressel said in a conference call: ?Terrelle has a passion to be a great quarterback in every aspect. We think his future is tremendous.?

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? Terrelle Pryor got the name of his new school wrong ? he called it the University of Ohio State ? but that was about the only thing that didn't go right on Wednesday. March 19, for him or the Buckeyes.
Dubbed the nation's top quarterback recruit, Pryor belatedly announced that he would join an Ohio State team where he can learn a college system under established senior quarterback Todd Boeckman, with no pressure to produce immediately.

"The thing that you need to do as a coaching staff is get the people on the field that can make plays," Tressel said. "He's excited about learning the offense and helping any way he can. He has great respect for Todd Boeckman and all the rest of the guys. He wants to earn every single thing that he gets."

Pryor may visit a practice or two during the spring while he finishes up his high school work, but he won't be on Ohio State's campus full time until June 16 when he begins summer classes. He will work on conditioning and likely participate in unsupervised passing drills until full practices begin in early August for the season opener on Sept. 5 against TCU.

Pryor said Tressel had told him he would "work me in there" with Boeckman, who led the Buckeyes to an 11-2 record and a runner-up spot in the Bowl Championship Series title game last season for the second year in a row.

The addition of a tall and talented quarterback was a breakthrough for the Buckeyes, who were extremely thin at the position. Henton has only seen spot duty, in part because he sat out much of last year while under a legal cloud before pleading guilty to a minor misdemeanor count of loitering for prostitution.

Pryor instantly becomes one of the biggest recruits in the program's history, ranking with linebacker Chris Spielman and quarterback Art Schlichter.

Life-long Michigan fan here...
And I say GOOD FOR HIM. Rich Rod's offense was NOT going to help Pryor become a good NFL Prospect, where-as Tressel's WILL. He made a fantastic decision to put himself in the best position to be an NFL Quarterback if he so chooses.
Not to mention, at least Ohio State's basketball program is worth mentioning. Michigan has sucked since the fab five left in the 90's.
Nope, I'm not suprised by the result, and I think he made the right decision - even though from a selfish point of view I would have enjoyed watching him in Maze and Blue.

Oregon was too far away.
Michigan was an option and ?Coach Rod is a great coach.?
But in the end, Ohio State was Terrelle Pryor?s choice. Probably always was.
Pryor put an end to all the speculation today, March 19, when he signed his national letter of intent to play football at OSU.
Wearing an OSU hat and T-shirt, Pryor looked cool under the media glare. The No. 1-rated prep football player in the nation even apologized to a Detroit reporter because he didn?t choose Michigan.
Maybe that was why Pryor held off on his decision. Maybe he had trouble saying no. Last month, he drew a huge crowd on Signing Day, only to announce that he had nothing to announce.

The Ohio State-Michigan game just got a little more intense.
Terrelle Pryor, a quarterback phenom from Jeannette, Pa., committed to play for Ohio State on Wednesday, passing up a likely starting position with Michigan and its new coach, Rich Rodriguez.
Pryor, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound, dual-threat quarterback is the only player in Pennsylvania high school sports history to rush and pass for more than 4,000 yards in his career. He also possesses blazing speed.
