QB Terrelle Pryor (official thread)

I will bet against anyone who doubts that TP will play QB in every game this year barring injury.

He is a phenom. He chose us over the entire nation. Why all the hype for the past two years? Because he is unbelievable. Once we see TP lining up as QB in his first game and what he brings to the table, there is no way that he will sit behind anyone. He will be utilized in every way possible. JMO

Why are you bringing up Krenzel? Your original comment was:

Tressel is not going to risk getting his players hurt? LOL why did he run Smith? How many TDs did Smith have in his career? Why did Mack Brown run Vince Young? This is a game of football, and physical contacts are allowed. If Pryor starts to get 7, 8 yards a pop and maybe break a couple early on, he will gradually steal more and more snaps from Saine and MoWells.

Perhaps because Krenzel is relevant? And also, I don't believe for a second that Young and Smith didn't take a lot of pounding. OSU-Texas 2005 anyone?

No doubt that Terelle Pryor will get hit and get hit hard when he takes the field. He is also 6'6'', weighs 230 pounds and looks like he is carved out of wood. I expect Pryor to dole out a few hard hits to would be tacklers himself. If Terelle Pryor can't take a few hits and roll with it, he has no business playing quarterback on an elite level anyway.

Well, you brought up Young and Smith, NFBuck responded, then you brought up Krenzel out of the blue.

Pryor will be called a lot on running plays. Whether he's under center or lined up somewhere else in the backfield, who knows. The reason I don't think it's going to be under center is that Henton/Boeckman are talented QBs that have a lot more experience. Therefore, to utilize Pryor without taking the ball away from our proven QB Boeckman, and our up-and-coming QB Henton, Tressel will design ways to get Pryor the ball by designing running formations for him.

If you don't agree with this view, you either think that
a). Tressel will be foolish enough to give a lot of QB snaps to a true-freshman...
b). That Tressel will be foolish enough not to give Pryor the ball...
or
c). Pryor will move to other positions, such as on defense.

If you don't think Pryor has that much talent and Tressel doesn't need to find ways for him to get touches, then this is an entirely pointless debate. However, if you think Pryor does have the talent, then I don't understand why it's so inconceivable to you that Tressel will give Pryor a lot of non-QB plays.

Not even sure what to say to this crap. We're foolish for thinking Pryor will take snaps at QB and so is Tressel? Really? It's that unheard of? So, he can run the ball but another QB has to hike the ball then get it to him?

You don't think JT will take time away from our backup QB's, because they are talented and more experienced? Aren't our backup RB's more talented (as RB's) and more experienced, especially at RB, where Pryor has not even played?

Wow, some people are going a little too crazy about TP! Yes he is a specimen, and he's big and fast and all that, but he hasn't played a snap of CFB yet! We have 2 QBs returning that know the playbook a lot better and know the speed of the college game a lot more than an 18 year old true frosh. I really hope TP pans out into a stud, but we need to be patient. Our squad isn't like the UF team from 2 years ago, because we have the luxury of having 2 QBs who know our system, and the playbook doesn't need to simplified for Henton as it would for Pryor. Everyone should calm down on this kid and let him get used to college life and the college game, and then start talking about plays being drawn for him. Be happy that we have Boeckman and Henton, and let this kid ease into being a superstar, that's why he came here and not scUM or Oregon!
