He is a phenom. He chose us over the entire nation. Why all the hype for the past two years? Because he is unbelievable. Once we see TP lining up as QB in his first game and what he brings to the table, there is no way that he will sit behind anyone. He will be utilized in every way possible. JMO
Pryor is a great talent but lets not forget he still has to learn the system. He's more of an athlete than a well rounded qb at this pointe. We all shouldn't put such high expectations on a kid who hasn't even taken one snap in a buckeye uniform. He will play but im not sure he'll play in everygame like USC, Wiski, Illinois. it all depends if he does well when he gets the oppurtunity and he doesn't make mistakes. If he get a hold on the offense and makes plays without hurting the team then i can see him playing a major role in everygame this year. I see around 7-8 plays a game mostly designed runs with the occasional deep ball to robo, hartline etc. Thats alot to to expect from a freshman, he has the ability to make significant contributions next year, but theres other mental aspects of the game that he needs to grasp before he can do all that. I think he'll play in most games but not all. He should play against USC but the other games that are close and in hostile enviorments im not sure. Anyways just my opinion on the whole thing.

I really hope TP pans out into a stud, but we need to be patient. Our squad isn't like the UF team from 2 years ago, because we have the luxury of having 2 QBs who know our system, and the playbook doesn't need to simplified for Henton as it would for Pryor. Everyone should calm down on this kid and let him get used to college life and the college game, and then start talking about plays being drawn for him. Be happy that we have Boeckman and Henton, and let this kid ease into being a superstar, that's why he came here and not scUM or Oregon!
Amen to that brother. At least someone has realistic expectations around here. You cant expect an 18 year old kid to be the savior of a program. Not that our program needs saving or anything like that.

Good point. TP wants to be an NFL QB and it sounds like he understands that will take time to learn.

We're all just excited to see this kid do his stuff in the Buckeye uniform. So that's why there is so much dreaming going on on the board right now.

I think we all know he'll see the field. But I think that JT will be very conservative in his use of him. It's a learning process to be a QB. You can't just rely on athletism. No way JT sends him out there to get killed just to show him off. I think he'll get QB snaps to get his feet wet. But why risk anything else unless we really need some gimmicks to win?

I mean this is our QB of the future. With the athletes we have, do we really need him at slot or running back? I don't think so. Let's just let him grow into the QB slot and be patient. Hard to wait, but it'll be worth it!

Maybe.

But if you use him more than we used Tim in his first year, you'll lose games you shouldn't have. Tebow would have led us to the Citrus Bowl if he had started his freshman year. Tress is too smart to push Pryor too fast.

And I can't knock the Pryor hype, 'cause I still have the "HE15MAN - IT'S INEVITABLE" t-shirt from Tim's first year.

There are a couple of pretty big differences between the two situations as well. First, and less importantly, they're completely different types of runners. Tebow's a bull, who picks up yards principally due to sheer power, and while Pryor has great size, and I'm sure pretty good power, speed and agility are far more important to his running prowess. Second, and more important, UF needed Tebow to supplement their running game in '06 (and last year as well), because they didn't have a season-long, consistent producer from the TB position. While Pryor may supply some juice to the OSU running attack at times, they'll know where to go when it's 3rd and short, and it generally won't be to #2.

Because Krenzel had big brass balls. I remember few QB's that would take the kind of hits he did. If I were to ever meet him in person, I'd shake his hand and ask him how he took those hits from Miami and still got up.

Every QB takes hits, but Troy, and most QB's get down into a slide or get out of bounds before taking too much of a pounding.

Taking a handoff is a much different story. Like I said, when a QB runs, more times than not, it catches the D off guard. Taking a handoff is a whole different story. You're gonna get hit.

Precisely.

Again, precisely.

TP will get the ball on occasion. Designed runs, misdirection or from the "shot-Ginn" I can see. Lining up in the backfield as a RB, I simply cannot. Sorry. Doesn't seem to be just my opinion.

@ every post you've made about TP running the ball - no offense, but get real man. There's no use in explaining why this won't happen considering it's blatantly obvious.

NFBuck, again, all I said was that Pryor will get in on a lot of designed runs, thus taking snaps away from Saine and MoWells. Never said he was going to be lined up as a RB, so I don't know what you are arguing about.

Who will get more opportunities to run the football? Pryor, Saine or MoWells. My bet is Pryor. That's all I'm saying. If you don't agree with that point, I'd love to hear your point of view. But please stop arguing about Pryor being a RB since it doesn't exist.

Not gonna argue anymore. In your initial post, you talked about TP lined up in the backfield with Beanie. If a couple of us misconstrued that, sorry. That's the hazards of discussions on a message board.

As far as Pryor getting more touches than Saine or MoWells, I still disagree. Like I said a couple pages back, I expect us to put a good portion of our games away by halftime this season. If that's the case, we all know JT's tendency to button up the offense and bring out the starters when that happens. That being the case, Saine, Mo and probably Herron will all see significant carries.

Do I think TP will get a number of touches this year? Absolutely. I'd look for him to see a lot of 4th quarter action in comfortably led games, and a handful of designed plays to utilize his unique skills in big game situations. But with 2 veteran QB's and a stable of talented backs, I don't look for his playing time to surpass them. Not this season. I hate the term "Tebow-like role", but that's what I see in store for TP this season. Hell, that worked out pretty well for Timmah.
