You mean HBack of course - but yes, we do need one.

TP blocking for Beanie would be awesome.

I heard Pryor decommitted and paid Kevin Hart to take his LOI.

There are four problems with getting TP on the field:

#1 - Boeckman, Henton and Bauserman
#2 - Beanie, Mo, Saine, and Boom
#3 - Nicol, Ballard and Smith
#4 - Robiskie, Hartline, Small, Sanzenbacher, and on and on.

Point being that we do not have a single position of need or a single position where we do not have talented and experienced depth. Fact is, the most shallow position in terms of said experienced depth is QB.
No I think it is the long snapper position. We only have Dimitrios Makridis and Jackson Haas. How good is Terrelle at doing long snaps?

Possible? Yes. Likely? Hell no. And why would you waste his talent that way?

Let me ask you this TB..
  1. What benefit would TP get from playing the 'basically #2 running back'?
  2. What benefit would our team have from using TP in this way?
IMO it's a waste of his ability to hand him the ball like the way you describe. Not to mention if he wanted to be used this way he woulda commited to dick rod and not tressel.

A common theme on TP is the comparison to Tebow. Florida got him on the field early so we expect the same thing.

Out of curiosity I checked the 2006 roster for Florida. They had two QBs - Leak and Tebow. Their leading rusher that season was DeShaun Wynn with 699 yards.

OSU has an overwhelmingly different situation.

Word is Herron is the second best pure RB on the team with Saine the better athlete. Is senior Mo Wells going to give up practice reps so we can play around with Pryor?

We have a similar situation at QB. In practice 1 and 2 get most of the reps. 3 gets a few and if we have a 4 he better hope someone is dinged or he gets to run the scout team.

It is too bad TP isn't here this spring because he will have a very short window this fall to push Bauserman aside for the third spot. Once games start coaches are going to have a lot more on their plates than who is the #3 QB or how to get a true Frosh into the game on a gimmick play.

As the season rolls on things will change. They could change earlier if TP really puts on an irresistible show. But the games we play 8/30 and 9/6 will be scrimmages for 9/13 and that doesn't give him a lot of time.

I heard someone on ESPN comparing Pryor to Tebow. Sorry, but that is not a fair or accurate comparison. He is more like a Vince Young type player. He is 6'6" and 235lbs (last I checked) and is more of a runner like Young than a passer.

But I wish him and Ohio State luck this season. Hope to see you in the National Title game for a rematch.

And Pryor is already bigger than Young was going into Texas. Young was a skinny(215lbs) kid. So, Young is still a better comparison.

Agreed.

Young was not as built as Pryor already is. The only thing that worries me about Pryor is that during his high school career he had one more rushing yard than passing yards overall. Now we know he should be a great runner, but I'm not sold on his passing quite yet. It will be interesting to see how he develops in that area.

Nobody is sold on his passing because he's not that polished yet in the pocket. Early shades of Troy trusting his legs and then to his arm, we have great coaches so that will change. However I don't see why we can't make a solid comparison to Tebow? - Aside from that game against Western Carolina as the full time QB; he was your primary ground game. Just skimming through some stats, if it wasn't a run on the goal line it was usually a one yard jump pass to Tate Casey. I think his longest throw of the season was what... 35 yards? Pretty sure that was against LSU... maybe I'm wrong but I don't see why a case can't be made for why he looks like both QB's.

I think gator is trying to say that on a technical level they differ. Pryor will use his speed and agility to burn you, whereas Tebow's power and athleticism make him very difficult to bring down, thus very effective when he runs.
