This comment below is so wrong on so many levels.....

1. Success?? The only QB they have had that has had any kind of long- term success is Brady. The other guys are career back-ups.....

2. OSU doesn't prepare their QB's for the NFL. All the guys listed except Krenzel and Smith where BT (before Tressel). Of the guys JT has recruited he is 1 for 1 in getting them in the NFL. He is 2 for 2 if you count the development of Krenzel....

3. Maintaining a long tradition of success in the NFL by UM QB's.
Doesn't he realize that Lloyd is gone and DickRod's offense is not conducive to NFL play. Besides here at THE Ohio State University we know how to spell maintaining.....

I thought OSU fans were the compulsive ones. I didn't know what half those guys were doing.

I will admit that I sometimes get caught up in the "Linebacker U" and "Taliback U" debates. But the truth is no school ever developed a player. Coaches do that. JT won an NC with Craig Krenzel and turned Troy Smith into a Heisman Winner. (A Heisman Winner whose success in the NFL will be determined by one stat more than any other - he is 6' 1" in high heels.)

This was a choice between Tressel and RR. Smart kid.

Terrelle Pryor and the rest of the incoming freshman arrive on campus this weekend, get their paperwork and orientation out of the way, and then start conditioning and going to summer school classes on Monday.

I'm going to write more about Mr. Pryor for the Sunday paper, but I wanted to drop a few little teases based on people I talked to about him in the past few days:

1. He is apparently in the best shape of his life. Since he quit running and jumping all over the basketball court in March, he has added 10 pounds of mostly muscle to his frame and is up to 225, while still keeping his speed (he's been running with parachutes and other resistance-type training).

2. OSU coaches sent him some plays, but only some basic stuff....not the whole offense. They didn't see any reason to overwhelm the kid too early. But they expect the veteran QBs to teach him a lot during summer 7-on-7 sessions.

3. Everyone likes how eager Pryor is to get here and learn. He is motivated and ready, but he also realizes he will take a back seat to Todd Boeckman. There will be no QB controversy, at least out of Pryor's mouth.

He's here to play quarterback, but Terrelle Pryor just couldn't help himself.

As soon as he walked onto the basketball court inside Ohio State's Sports Biomechanics Lab yesterday, he sprang into motion.

First, he swooped to the hoop and leaped for an empty-handed dunk. Moments later, with a ball in hand, he dunked for real. He swished a majority of his jumpers, many from 20 or 25 feet away.

He joked and laughed with the other seven incoming freshmen players who were undergoing high-tech, computer-aided motion assessments. Six more freshmen will be tested Monday, when summer conditioning and summer quarter classes begin.

Pryor certainly looks ready. Stripped down to a pair of shorts for the testing, he was a physical specimen -- measuring 6 feet 3 1/2 , 225 pounds, with a "six-pack" that might make magazine models envious.

He is off-limits to the media, per NCAA rules, until fall practice begins Aug. 4. He did not return numerous phone messages last week.

So we'll have to take the word of those close to him that the most-heralded Ohio State recruit in recent memory is indeed ready to begin his college career.

"This is probably the strongest he's ever been," said Ray Reitz, Pryor's football coach at Jeannette (Pa.) High School. "He's been busting his butt in the weight room, running with a parachute (for resistance). This kid has always worked hard, but he's pushed it a little further now. He's trying to get his body ready."

His high school quarterbacks coach, Roy Hall, estimated Pryor had gained 15 pounds of muscle since basketball season ended in March.

"I was talking to (Ohio State coach) Jim Tressel the other day," Hall said. "I joked with him, I said, 'Coach, you haven't seen him for a couple of months. I'm worried he might be getting too big. He might have to play defensive end.'"
