I'd like to give my two cents on Terrelle Pryor, seeing as the guy he gets constantly compare to is Vince Young, a man who I got to watch for 3 years here in Austin.

I think Terrelle Pryor is the most talented guy to come into college football, since the aforementioned Vince Young. I think he has all the talents to be a great QB for Ohio State, and they're set for the next 3 to 4 years, but comparing the guy to Vince Young is throwing a lot of pressure on him. Vince Young was just a magical player in college football. So many amazing performances, amazing comebacks, etc.. I think he has all the tools (and his running motions looks too similar to VY's) to be amazing, but I'll wait to see. I expect him to have an impact this season, ala Tim Tebow for the Gators in 2006.

I think most of us agree with you about his talent. With that being said, most of us are also very realistic about comparing anyone to VY. We saw first hand what he meant to that team, and how he willed them to victory. Im just hoping Terrelle Pryor becomes the next Terrelle Pryor! He will get introduced slowly, and spoon fed the Off. When its his time (Barring any untimely injuries to those ahead of him) he will be ready. Coach T has already stated that he is a tape room maniac, and his desire to learn may be the only thing greater than his raw talent!

I think the problem with comparing TP to VY is that, while they are physically similar at the beginning of their collegiate careers, we don't know what kind of men they'll turn out to be. VY was a leader; he put his team on his shoulders again and again and carried the day. TP might be a guy who can do that, but we sure as hell don't know right now. Even comparing them is putting too much pressure on the kid - how do you go about playing when, without setting foot on the field, you're being compared to the best player of our era (no offense, Urban)? That's a hell of a load to carry.

I just hope that TP will be the best player he can be. From all appearances, he's got one hell of a high ceiling and a decent work ethic. I hope the pressure and spotlight don't overwhelm him and that he can just do his thing. Most of all, I hope he doesn't wind up feeling buried by expectations and can enjoy his college experience. I mean, you only get to be 18-22 once.

Agree with everyone's comments. Comparing the two is unfair...to both of them. Unfair to VY, who PROVED his worth and deserves comparisons only to those who did the same and unfair to TP who deserves the right to grow into his own person without the pressure of measuring up to one of the great college players of this generation.

TP clearly has mad skills and is freakish in terms of size/speed/ability. But now that he's at tOSU, the maturation process will be different (not necessarily better or worse, just different). So, one would expect TP to turn out differently...for the better or worse...hopefully even better if that's possible

Stud class of 2008 quarterback recruit Terrelle Pryor's choice of Ohio State over Michigan is a barometer for the storied rivalry -- Buckeyes surging, Wolverines stumbling. Pryor won't be OSU's primary quarterback until 2009, but the Buckeyes will get him on the field in some packages this season. The other thing is Vince didn't become the VY everyone knows until late in his 3rd season. He redshirted his first year, and even in his 3rd season still struggled (shut out in Red River Shootout). He emerged late in '04, then dominated Michigan (which we thought was misleading, given their track record), and we know the rest.

Terrelle will be expected by too many to be Vince by his 2nd year, and that's simply unfair, and very ill-informed even if Pryor is VY's equal, given the time it took for VY to become a world-killer.

Why is it you never hear comparisons to Randall Cunningham. Most of his high school film I saw, led me to make that comparison in my mind.

How about we stop trying to compare him to everyone else and hope that he becomes the first Terrelle Pryor type player? What kind of player is that you ask? Who knows? Let's just sit back and enjoy the show.
