Its also very effective if the defense hasn't seen it before so they can't key on what formation we run it out of...

I'm going to bump this Pryor thread because I have this sneaking suspicion that he's going to have a big game this week. I get this feeling that Tressel held out T.P. just to keep USC guessing this week. His only plays were a couple of straight ahead runs for the most part. His brilliance may show this week, for the first time in a national spotlight. Vince Young ate up USC with his legs, don't think that film was never watched by the coaching staff over the summer months. Big game this week, will Pryor be given a shot?

I'd love to see TP run a few playes that Troy ran when he was here...the little option pass type play where the QB and RB act like its an option then the QB steps back and it's a pass. It worked lights out when Troy was here

To me with how we were in a dog fight with Ohio last week and didn't see Pryor I'm not sure we will see Pryor all that much. I'd like to see Terrelle with the first team offense just to give the guy a chance out there. If we send him out with the 2nd unit against USC um yeah that'd be not that cool.

100% certainly not calling out BuckeyeMac.
When talking with other fans in my area (some fans, some fanatics, some would be going in reverse if they were going any slower).
But the references to Troy did this, Troy did that... Troy won the Heisman. Troy took us to the NC game in the desert. Troy had us #1 from day 1 in 2006.
But we also went 8-4 in 2004. With Troy Smith, as a sophomore. I know the Zwick thing happened.
But the next Troy will be a sophomore in 2009.
We need to be cool with Terrelle as this thing progresses. Throw him into the fire to soon, and..... well hell, nevermind, it's not like we're Michigan

I think we will see a lot of Pryor because of the inability for Boeckman to perform in big games. Tressel likes to keep packages up his sleeve and Terrelle is the biggest suprise we have. The play calling for Pryor has been extrememly basic and I for one can't stand it. We haven't even scratched the surface of Pryor's abilities because we haven't given him the personel or the plays with which he can best opperate out of. I for one think Terrelle has to see a lot of the field in this game but we have to adjust and open the playbook to him. I say we give Terrelle some chances on early drives, opening up the playbook for him and then how he does on those drives determines how we use him throughout the rest of the game. With the way USC has recruited every year and the stacked talent they have at all positions, our best chances are a healthy dose of Beanie to really shorten the game. Next Saturday at 11:30 we will have a lot more answers.

We aren't chopped liver.
I know it's hard to believe, but Ohio State gets kids that USC wants. We don't get their scraps. We lose head to head battles on kids at times, and so do they. The USC recruiting myth makes me want to puke. Sure they get their fair share, but they don't tell us who is left when they are done.
A fair argument can be made (heavily, no?) that our coaching staff has done more with less (if you buy into the star ratings). If USC is continually getting better players at every position, then why do they have 1 (ONE) crystal football, same as OSU, and why is there no huge difference in draft picks?
The NFL would agree.

I'm not saying that we don't recruit great players but USC seemingly can pull anyone they want out of the entire state of California year in and year out (majority of the Calif. great players). California produces more college football players than Ohio. I just wish the likes of UCLA and Cal would pull more talent away from them. We really don't have that many recruiting battles with them. Fred Davis, Dwayne Jarrett and Corey Adams are the ony 3 i can think of off the top of my head. I'm just saying when you're pulling the majority of top HS players out of probably the best producing state over the past few years. You have to admit that their RB depth cannot be matched by any other team in the nation. I'm just basically stating that our best chances of taking this game are to put it in Beanie's hands and take our shaky QB play somewhat out of the game.
