If JT has been planning to exploit Pryor's unique gifts in this game all along, to exploit them using plays we have not yet seen on the field - by all means go for it. But if the suggestion is somehow that we do so as a desperation move in response to Beanie's injury I find that both preposterous and insulting to the rest of the team.
Beanie can be a difference maker. But without him we are not suddenly Northwestern. We have an excellent D, some decent receivers and a couple of other RBs who might stumble forward on one or two plays if we give them the chance. We are NOT the team that struggled to beat OU. Unless, of course, the tone of desperation I am reading from some permeates the entire team. This suggestion that rather than rely on 21 seniors and 39 upper classmen we turn to an unproven true Freshman. If that is the case we lose by 30 regardless of how we use Pryor. We were the underdog going in. We are a bigger underdog without Beanie. But we are fortunate enough to be taking on the #1 team in the country on a national stage with a TEAM that is capable of pulling it off. Let's get behind that. |

If Pryor tells us through his play that we can't keep him off the field, we have to keep him out there. I love what Boeckman has done, but he has had a slow start the season against much lesser competition. Now, is it because we haven't shown our "full offense" maybe, but if Boeckman continues to struggle, don't be surprised to see Pryor starting our bowl game.

And I wasn't responding to your post directly - just lots of stuff I am reading and hearing here and elsewhere. If this team is not a rock built on the foundation of its upperclassmen it is nothing. |

It would be very un-Tressel-like, but I think that would be the beauty in it. Like I said, though, the coaches have the superior gameplan. I don't want to come off like that guy who goes around complaining about the coaches 24/7 and making these insane gameplans, although it probably looks like what I'm doing. ![]() |

I expect Terrelle to play a bigger part in opening things up for the players around him due to distraction than actually making a lot of the plays himself. I wouldn't be surprised to see him early and often, but I don't think he'll be running up and down the field like some do. TP will not need to carry the load (with or without Beanie), but he could definitely throw off a blitzing defense that will have its ears pinned back.
That being said, I love the fake option pass...IF there is time for it to develop. |

While I still don't think JT will hand the keys of the offense over to TP tonight, I am intrigued to see if JT has some wrinkles he has saved to unleash on SC using TP's talents.

Neither will the holder.

I had a dream that my middle school gym teacher was running for emperor of Lake Erie and had a small army of penguins killing off the competition...
I think Pryor sees limited PT today. Tressel will get him some touches but he will not be the focal point of the offense...Boeckman or Herron will be. |

I'm hoping that Pryor sees 10-15 plays and has the opportunity to throw the ball downfield and see if he can catch the D off guard. He's not going to win the game for OSU, but he can certainly make a difference. I'm hoping that he gets to go in on singualr plays during a drive along with entire drives just to see what he could do on one play such as a 3rd and short or a redzone opportunity. |
