I think they would be calling for Tressle's head if we lost the last couple...morons.

Rob Oller commentary: Tressel ball puts clamps on Pryor

Saturday, October 18, 2008 3:19 AM
By Rob Oller

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

We all make misstakes. See what I mean? But focus too much on the gaffes and other cracks will emerge, such as the anemic Ohio State offense led by a quarterback so intent on not messing up that he muzzles his instincts.
Of course I'm speaking of Craig Krenzel. But I could easily be describing Terrelle Pryor, who is like the worrier so intent on keeping the sky from falling that he steps in quicksand.
Pryor's total yardage has fallen progressively in each of his four starts. His passing yards dipped to 97 against Purdue last week, after spiking at a pedestrian 144 yards against Wisconsin two weeks ago.
But Pryor is only the latest OSU quarterback at the center of the conundrum: "How can so much offensive talent fail to set off fireworks?"
The Buckeyes are next to last in the Big Ten in total offense, nearly 121 yards behind leader Penn State, and rank last in passing with 143.6 yards per game.

I too want to see Terrelle just bust loose and decimate the defense, you can certainly see the potential there for it, but I want to see us win more than anything. Whatever keeps us doing that.
Holy [censored], we won the last two?!
I should start watching the games instead of just reading the posts afterwards, hot damn!

It's nice to win games with a "pedestrian" effort from a frosh QB who has so much upside potential.

Lord... give it time (that's directed any anyone who is bitching about being 6-1). We may have all thought (and wished) for greater things this year but it evidently wasn't in the cards for the team. Not a doubt exists in my mind that we're just seeing the start of some very special years to come. From TP and from the rest of the team.

could just be me, but i don't think its the coaching staff that is holding him back at all. you have to remember he is a true freshman, not a red shirt freshman. the game hasn't slowed down for him yet. but you can definitely see on certain plays its clearly going less than full speed. give it time, the flashes of brilliance from this offense are going to quickly become more than just flashes. consistency. that truly is the key.

TP's field vision is getting a little better each week.
On a seperate but related note I think a lot of people (me included) have the tendency to get on Tressel about his conservative playcalling, but it is just a smart coach developing a highly talented quarterback the way a qb should be developed. The best way to screw up a young qb is to stick him in a starting qb position in a major college program and expect him to throw the ball 30+ times. He would get the [censored] beat out of him both mentally and physically. TP has so much upside that it is scary. By the time the time the scUM game comes up he could be really scary.

As much as he has progressed from experience, I would venture a guess that we will see an improvement in his passing next week. This was the first week we saw this many deep ball attempts and he will be able to self-scout and improve. His decision making today was much quicker and deliberate today. I felt he looked completely different today than Purdue (possibly the understatement of the week).

Pryor, Ohio St. build quick lead in victory over Michigan St.

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Terrelle Pryor became the first player to tell Ohio State coach Jim Tressel to bench him if he didn't produce.

Then, the Buckeyes' quarterback made the request moot against Michigan State.

Pryor turned some of his potential into production, running for a score and throwing for another in the first quarter to help the 12th-ranked Buckeyes build a four-touchdown lead en route to a 45-7 win Saturday over the 20th-ranked Spartans.

"He stopped in my office right before we left Friday and said, 'If I don't move the ball down the field, you should bench me,'" Tressel recalled. "That's just the way he is."

Three turnovers which turned into quick TD's were very nice gifts. It will be a differerent story when Penn State comes into the "Shoe". Terrell looked good on alot of his pass plays and the execution seemed to be a good sign of his confidence. The defense seems to be playing with alot more intensity and I hope that can overflow to the offensive side also.

Since this is #2's thread, I feel is it rather appropriate. The pick 6 is inevitable.

From what I saw of the game, Pryor looked much much better and although he didn't put up eye popping stats he looked more confident, not holding onto the ball etc.

I'm very glad her had this game right before the PSU game.

You hate to rehash a past quote of yourself but I think Pryor started playing today like he is ready to break out and be one of the premiere players in college football. He is getting his moxie back. Today was a start, the lights won't be much brighter than next week. We haven't been on a national stage since USC. Pryor can really make some noise if he plays well against Penn St.
