If there is any truth to the story that one of the reason Pryor chose OSU over the likes of Michigan is because he wants to be a quarterback and not a running back who throws - and I think there is truth to it - then I'm fairly confident that Pryor won't be declaring to the NFL until he's ready. That may be after year 3... I don't know... But, as others have said - as much as we love the mobile QB in college - that QB doesn't translate to the NFL. Pryor needs to be a QB who can run (Steve Young, John Elway) not a running back who can throw... even one with crazy skills. Thus, while Pryor's a quick study and talented guy, I wouldn't be so quick to assume he's gone after 3.

For sure... I don't want to be understood as saying Pryor won't leave after his junior year... I'm just saying there's no compelling reason as of now to just assume that'll be the case.
As you, daddyphatsacs, mention - he has that rare ability you see in certain players (ie Lebron) But... he also seems to have something else that I don't see people talking about right now. I'm not sure how to phrase it myself, but it's something you can understand about him having watched his recruitment. He's ... how to say this... OK... it's clear he will want to take, and will get, a shot at the NFL. I'm just not sure how big a hurry he is to get there. Kind of like Jenkins, Lil Animal, Boone.. is what I'm talking about. Pryor is one of the few super recruits who strikes me as perfectly willing to chill out and not be in too big a hurry to "grow up" (not that he's immature, just saying football as a job is different than football as the game you love - ask Ted Ginn Jr.) I'm probably not articulating my point real well. I'm just trying to say there's more to the equation than plain talent, and there is evidence out there to suggest even if he was ready after his Junior year, maybe he's not in a hurry. That said, I thought Greg Oden shared this personality quality and he declared anyway. Even though I was fairly sure he'd be 1 and done, I must confess I was holding out the slimest of hope that he'd come back for another year (even though he was "ready") and from what I gather in retrospect, he did give serious thought to playing at OSU for one more season before opting for the NBA. I certainly don't blame Oden for doing so, and I wouldn't hold it against Pryor either if he goes to the NFL after his Jr. season. |

My guess is that he'll make substantial enough progress in the next two years to be a very high draft pick and can/will then be coached-up from there by the organization lucky enough to get him. He may not be all the way there after three, but he'll be close enough that he can't not be drafted really high and, therefore, can't not go. He's shown he wants to be thrown into the deep end and he'll want to try the pros after three.
