I agree, but you can tell that he is a physical player, the way he was sticking his nose in there and making some big plays on defense.

His physical stature is a lot like VY and from the very few throws he flips the ball some like VY.

Good point, and I can't wait to see more. The craziest thing about him is that he could end up being a freak coming off the end on D. He is already 6-6 220. Same size as Martin, but we are recruiting him as a QB.

As far as basketball is concerned, Pryor mentions that assistant coach Al Major attended one of his football games and he still wants to play both sports in college. May visit for the Michigan game. Penn State, Pitt, Clemson and Miami have offered for basketball.

Jeannette 22, Laurel 14 -- Terrelle Pryor accounted for 318 total yards and two touchdowns, as No. 9 seed Jeannette (9-1) erased an eight-point halftime lead and downed No. 8 seed and host Laurel (7-3) in the first round of the WPIAL Class AA playoffs. Pryor had 184 rushing yards and 134 through the air. Corey Collins and Mike Kerr each had 1-yard touchdown runs for Laurel.

There is a reason why Aliquippa coach Mike Zmijanac is excited about playing Jeannette in the WPIAL Class AA playoffs Friday night, and it has nothing to do with the prospect of moving on to the semifinal round. "It's great that two Class A teams (by enrollment) are able to continue to find success by playing up in classification," Zmijanac said. "It's rewarding for us and Jeannette to still be playing this time of the year."
Aliquippa (10-0), which is ranked No. 1 in the WPIAL and state, battles No. 4 Jeannette (9-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Fox Chapel High School in the Class AA quarterfinals.
"I have great respect for Jeannette's program," Zmijanac said. "There are no dogs left in the playoffs. My hat's off to what team makes it through the tournament."
Aliquippa and Jeannette each needed to rally for victories in the opening round of the playoffs. Aliquippa battled back to topple Riverside, 18-13, while Jeannette defeated Laurel, 22-14. Zmijanac said that's a testiment to how tough Class AA is in the WPIAL.
Jeannette coach Ray Reitz said he agrees that Class AA is very good, and that this is another outstanding Aliquippa team with a lot of great athletes.
The Quips are led by four seniors -- safety Antonio Reddic, running back Brandon Lindsey, linebacker Mike Brown and quarterback D'Mar Jeter. Lindsey is being recruited by Pitt and Ohio State. Junior wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin is another key player for the Quips.
"What impresses me the most about them is they make plays and never quit," Reitz said. "They're like us, the love to compete and play the game. It's going to be interesting, because I like my team."
Reitz said Aliquippa is very good defensively, and it's going to be a challenge for his offense.
Zmijanac said his team his young, but he added, "So is Jeannette."
Aliquippa's offensive line features two sophomores, two juniors and a senior. Those players, however, started last year.
"Great players make you look really good as a coach," Zmijanac said. "Darrelle Revis made me look good when we beat Jeannette in the WPIAL title game in 2003. We also were good enough to win the state title."
Revis is now playing at Pitt.
"Our main focus will be trying to contain Terrelle Pryor," Zmijanac said. "He's a big time player. He's not their entire team, however. He has great players around him."
Pryor, a junior, has emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the country. He has the ability to beat teams with his legs and strong right arm. He has numerous upper echelon colleges courting him for both football and basketball. Among his suitors include Pitt, Ohio State, Michigan, West Virginia, Penn State, Clemson, Nebraska, Georgia and Florida.
"Everyone tries to take away Terrelle," Reitz said. "That opens up things for our other players.
"If we can shut down their running game, we'll have a chance. We're excited about the opportunity to play the No. 1 team in the state.
"Aliquippa likes to play old-school football. The Quips run the ball, play tough defense and are very opportunistic. It could be a great game."

I am interested to see what kind of shape Terrelle's recruitment takes...there are those who vehemently suggest that he is being recruited as a QB and there are those that think he will likely either outgrow the position or never develop into a Big 10 caliber QB and likely will end up at WR/TE/DE/LB (measurables are similar to Martez Wilson, which is scary).

Kamerion Wimbly was a hs qb, when he got to florida state he was only about 210. My point being this kid sounds like a JT recruit with his athletic ability and the possibility of playing multiple postions.

Jeannette stuns No. 1-ranked Aliquippa

Just call Jeannette a giant killer. For the second time in three weeks, Jeannette knocked off the No. 1 team in the WPIAL and the state.
The latest victim was Aliquippa, which had no answer for Jeannette quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who led his team to a 19-14 victory Friday night in a WPIAL Class AA quarterfinal game at Fox Chapel High School Stadium.
Three weeks ago, the Jayhawks knocked off rival Greensburg Central Catholic.


Pryor, a junior, scored three touchdowns and rushed for 201 yards last night. Jeannette (10-1) will play Brentwood -- which defeated Seton-La Salle, 12-7 -- next Friday in a semifinal game. Aliquippa fell to 10-1.
For the second consecutive week, Jeannette put together a strong second half to rally for the victory. Pryor scored on runs of 33 and 84 in the third quarter to help Jeannette erase a 7-6 halftime deficit.
"We showed great character, and I'm so proud of them," Jeannette coach Ray Reitz said. "Terrelle played a great game, and he got some great blocks."
Jeannette didn't waste any time grabbing the lead in the second half.
On its first possession, the Jayhawks moved 53 yards in four plays. Pryor, who carried the ball on three of the four plays, scored on a 33-yard run with 10 minutes, 16 seconds left in the third quarter to make the score 12-7.
Aliquippa threatened late in the third quarter, driving to the Jeannette 13. But the Jayhawks defense held and got the ball back.
Two plays later, Pryor dazzled the crowd with an 84-yard touchdown run to put Jeannette up, 19-7. The quarterback came around right end, put a fake on defensive back Donovan Norwin at the Jeannette 25 and turned around linebacker Jonathan Baldwin at the Aliquippa 38, where he cut left and raced for the score.
"That was a back-breaker for us," Aliquippa coach Mike Zmijanac said. "We had a chance to score and didn't punch it in, and on the second play, he runs 84 yards. That's a balloon buster.
"Terrelle is a terrific player. He fits into their plan very well."
Aliquippa didn't go away quietly. The Quips struck with 3:19 left, as Patrick Pettis caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from D'Mar Jeter to make the score 19-14.
But Jeannette recovered an onside kick, got a first down and ran out the clock.
"A real good team lost," Zmijanac said. "We'll take this loss hard, and we should."
The Jeannette players, however, were talking in the locker room about getting refocused for next week's contest.
Defensive tackle Montel Walker had three quarterback sacks, as Jeannette finished with six total.
"Our coaches put us in the right positions to make plays, and (they) tell us we have to get teams down," Jeannette linebacker Dayton Wolfe said. "The second half always seems to be our half."
Reitz said he didn't think his defense played all that well in the first half. But they responded with a strong effort in the second half.
Aliquippa took advantage of good field position to score the game's first points. Daron Cox scored on a 25-yard run to cap a 7-play, 47-yard drive. Cox finished with 82 yards on 15 carries.
The score came with 10:08 left in the second quarter and was set up by 9-yard screen pass to Cox on third-and-nine at the Jeannette 46.
Jeannette responded with its own scoring drive on the next possession. The Jayhawks moved 63 yards in seven plays with Pryor scoring on a 17-yard run out of five wide receiver set.
Jeter, however, blocked the extra point.
Aliquippa outgained Jeannette, 107-72, in the first half, but Pryor and company changed that in the second half. Jeannette finished with a 244-186 edge.
Pryor did have a great game throwing the ball. He completed only 1 of 8 passes for 16 yards and was intercepted twice (Antonio Reddic and Brandon Lindsey). But he just let his legs do the talking.
"My linemen did a great job opening up holes," Pryor said, who waved bye-bye to Baldwin on his long touchdown run. "I'm the offensive leader and I respect that."

Pryor leads Jeannette over Aliquippa

Notable: Pryor rushed for 201 yards and scored all of Jeannette's touchdowns in its 19-14 Class AA quarterfinal win over No. 1 seed Aliquippa on Friday night at Fox Chapel. He scored on runs of 17, 33 and 84 yards. "It meant a lot," Pryor said of leading his team to victory. "It was a wild one. It was the biggest atmosphere I've been in. It's another step to Heinz Field. It was a big win, and we wanted it real bad."
Pryor's 84-yard scoring run gave Jeannette a lead it would not relinquish. On the play, Pryor ran the ball after a broken pass play. Sort of.
"My coach (Ray Reitz) was like, 'It's a pass play, but maybe we should change it to a bootleg,' " Pryor said "He told me to just take off. I took off around the end, broke one tackle and got to the end zone."
Jeannette (10-1) has knocked off the Tribune-Review's No. 1 team in two of the past three weeks. But Pryor and his teammtes don't want to get caught up in past accomplishments.
"If you think like that, you're gonna play down to (the other team)," Pryor said. "Our coach's saying is 'fear no one, respect all,' and that's what we're doing."
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Pryor has received multiple scholarship offers from major Division I programs for both football and basketball. Undefeated Rutgers -- ranked as high as fifth in the country -- offered him a football scholarship last week. He also has offers to play football for No. 1 Ohio State, Pitt and Penn State, among others. He said he would like to play both sports in college.

This has to be one of the biggest upsets in the in the WPIAL all year. Heck it has to be up there with one of the biggest upsets in the State this year. Great job by the Jayhawks.
