Well, that quarterback currently dons scarlet and gray. No need to pinch yourself; Terrelle Pryor is the real deal. A thought that sends chills down ones spine: Pryor hasn't even started his sophomore season yet.

The prodigy has demonstrated a sense of cockiness, a notable swagger, a dynamic awareness of pride that is typically reserved for the 15-year veteran gunslingers of the NFL.

Buckeye backers worried about another thrashing at the hands of USC setting the table for another disappointing season? Pryor's candidness can quell all fans' fears.

After Pryor's transition to the collegiate level resulted in a 10-3 campaign, the poised competitor told me during a spring interview, "We're going to improve; me as an individual, and as a team. So you don't have to worry about that."

Those are pretty ambitious words for any freshman to spew out. But this isn't any ordinary young talent.

Physical skills will only get an athlete so far. Mental abilities give a player an edge that separates the elite from the talented. And rarely does a freshman pick up on that additional advantage so early in his career. Pryor has done that.

Someone else already said it, but I'll say it, too. If you want to make a name for yourself, it's much easier to crap on the popular teams than it is to write glowing reviews of them. Unfortunately, I took the bait.

Fair enough. But you call him "overrated" because you haven't seen what he can do? Sounds like your problem - not his.

My eyes scan stories with him appearing on Heisman watch lists for the coming season. I put on my glasses. He's still there.

Where? I haven't been on top of the Heisman Watch lists, but all I've heard about is the big three: Tebow, McCoy, and Bradford. And in my opinion, that's all we SHOULD be hearing about when it comes to Heisman, at this moment. Let the season play out a little more before giving this any real consideration.

That's where I get overrated. He still has to prove he can do an essential part of quarterbacking -- pass effectively. In his first season he only attempted more than 20 passes in one game. Not to mention, I'm still having a hard time ignoring back-to-back 5 for 13 games against Michigan and Texas to close out his freshman campaign.

Looks to me as though you're blaming him for your failure to see what he can do. The Ohio State offense didn't need him to pass more than 20 times in a game. And 5 for 13 was enough to beat Michigan 42-7 - why throw for 300 yards in that game? And he shared QB duties with TB against Texas, and still nearly defeated the team that many felt should have been playing for the national championship.

Can he be as great as the hype? Surely, but right now I don't see how people get their expectations based off his college track record.

Again, YOU haven't seen his skills, so HE must be overrated.

I'm not saying he's the second coming of Ryan Mallett, but I think you need to understand what the word "overrated" means before writing an article about it.
