A) I am surprised at how many people are ready to annoint Pryor as "the next VY" or the "next great quarterback" or as a "transcendent player" or "Heisman contender". Keep in mind a couple of schools began by recruting him as a WR or DE.
B) Henton was not all that great as a junior...his footwork was pretty bad and he completed less than 50% of this passes because he relied on his big arm way too much and threw tons of deep balls. LJB correctly labeled him a "bomber" after watching film of his junior season. His senior season showed marked improvement in technique. To see a great review of Antonio's development as a senior in high school, read this post from the state semis his senior year. We'll see if Terrelle makes similar strides his senior season. C) While I agree to some extent about the "following a legend" it is a touch early, despite Jaxbuck's comments about everyone loving him down there, to annoint Tebow a legend. He could blow his ACL out tomorrow and never be the same QB again. He does not have the greatest set of QB skills, although that is not completely necessary in the Meyer system. But regardless, he is one snap or a few tough games away from watching things from the sidelines. |

Henton played for one of the best HS offense/QB gurus in the nation, Rance Gillespie.
While Henton was regarded as "raw," due to his reliance on his athleticism instead of traditional "fundamental" QB attributes, that assessment would likely be different today with the successes of Troy, VY, etc. Antonio's highlight films showed mostly downfield throws...but don't forget teammate Chris Slaughter was one of the top WRs in the nation also. From those who saw AH in camps or games, he was a well-coached QB for the HS level. |

Henton is waaay further along than Troy was at the same period in development.
But, Pryor has great physical gifts! |

True, but Kendra was also more interested in becoming a weightroom freak than a QB anyway...the stories of him busting blood vessels in his face while straining on the leg sled are legendary.

Alabama fans are still waiting on Brodie Croyle to live up to the hype. The only thing that seperated him and Powlus was Beano never said anything about Brodie winning three Heismans while in Tuscaloosa. |

If your kid was a big time RB would you want him going to OSU to compete with Archie in his last couple of years then have to be the guy who replaced him? Thats what Tebow is down here.
PLease tell me I read that incorrectly! Now Florida fans are comparing a two-time Heisman winner with a quarterback that has yet to start a game?? Tebow isn't even in the same stratosphere as Archie. That is a complete insult! |

Sorry, I digress. TP is a stud...does anyone think tOSU offers Sal Battles as a contingency (ATH) plan? |

I don't think it is much like Troy's career path at all. If Pryor were to come to tOSU, he would be coming in as the next big thing, and the "next Vince Young" and be expected to be great. Troy just barely got a scholarship, and had to take a while before most people even knew who he was. The one thing that would be common would be if Pryor redshirts and then waits to start his redshirt junior year. IMO, if Pryor is that good, Henton would have to be that much better to start over him, even if he's been there longer. Not to mention if Henton is successful, and knows Pryor might take his job his senior year, he could try to go to the NFL after his junior year. |

If I were a betting man, then I'd put my money on Henton, not Pryor, being "the next big thing". Henton has already had one year in the Ohio State program and is a legitimate candidate to start for the Buckeyes this year, and Pryor hasn't even begun his senior year in high school yet. A lot can happen before Pryor sets foot on any college campus. It is a rarity for a QB to come into a program and start as a true freshman - Brady Quinn, Isiah Williams, Chris Leak, etc. are the exceptions, not the rule. I would be surprised if Pryor did it. And if Pryor really is the "next Vince Young", then he won't - Young, the number one overall prospect in the country, was a red-shirt at Texas in 2002. (BTW, Michael Vick was also a freshman redshirt, as was JaMarucs Russell). Lest we forget, Tim Tebow, the QB phenom of the class of 2006, did not start for Florida last season. |

Exactly. Troy's "late offer" from Ohio State had absolutely nothing to do with on-the-field talent, everything to do with off-the-field issues.
