In any event, "developing an NFL QB" is a crapshoot at best. Look at one of the most successful NFL QBs in the modern era: Tom Brady. He was not even a first team Big 10 QB (honorable mention at best I believe), and yet excelled in the NFL. Many other star QBs at the college level have been washouts in the pros.

I really have no use for the NFL anyway, so I could not care less if we are able to become an NFL QB factory or not. I realize it is important to the players with the desire to play at that level, but for me it simply does not matter.

What matters to me is Ohio State football success, and I think TP is our best bet for success there. TP has more potential to be a great QB than anyone else we have on the team, or anyone we were in the running to recruit. He can be a great college QB in my opinion, and simply needs some time to develop.

Would I be happier if he was the Heisman front-runner because he was playing so well - absolutely. Did I expect that to happen? Nope. Tressel has shown the ability to achieve success with the players he recruits, and I see no reason to think TP will be any different. With players as "hyped" as he was, it is difficult to live up to expectations. It is much easier to be an unexpected star (see "Tater Tot" Forcier for an example) than to live up to world-beater hype. We need to give him time to succeed.

I am willing to be patient. I'd even be willing to wait for his breakout game to come until Nov. 21, 2009 in Ann Arbor.

No, it didn't, unless you're trying to compare his fourth year with pryor's second.

Year 1 - not ready to see the field
Year 2 - < 60% comp, 6 td 7 int

Year 4 - > 65% comp, 3000 yds, 44 td 28 int

Texas drastically changed their coaching approach with VY at the end of his career.

I'm sorry, SIMV, but I can't frickin' believe you're suggesting that TP play another position. Having his athletic ability at QB creates all sorts of possibilities for the offense, and puts all kinds of pressure on the defenses.

And I know they're not the same player, and TP wants to be a pro-style QB; bUt like JWins said, but TP is well ahead of a mid-year redshirt sophomore VY, in his third year at Texas.

Thought he took a little step fwd. Ran with a little more confidence. Made a couple of really nice throws.. Several drops by the WR's.

If there is one area that could help this team tremendously in the next couple of weeks is his short routes on third down. If they start connecting a little more on those and keep some drives going this team could be real dangerous. In my not so trained eye he is getting better. Release a little sooner and get those feet right!

Maybe you want to get your facts straight, since VY entered the draft after his junior year, which means he didn't have a senior year. So yes, VY did have a great junior year.
