However, it should be noted that Vince Young was reshirted as a freshman and the sophomore year you used for comparison was his 3rd year in the Texas system. Terrelle Pryor is way ahead of Vince Young in his progression as a true sophomore. |

Brady doesn't have to run. He goes through progressions as well as any pro in the game. |

There are millions of reasons to stay and become a first day pick rather than a second. NFL GMs are getting wary that QBs coming out early are simply not ready, and that a lot of "project" QBs aren't making the grade. You can only point to Mark Sanchez as a junior who came out early, and he's hardly lighting the league on fire, starting more out of necessity than actually being ready.
Some other recent high draftees who are bigger projects than expected: Jamarcus Russell Vince Young Matt Leinert Brady Quinn Recent high picks who have done well, or who are at least starting: Aaron Rodgers Matt Ryan Jay Cutler Joe Flacco You have to go to 2004 to see a draft where the top 3 QBs all turned out: Eli Manning Phillip Rivers Ben Roethlisberger It looks like the only non-first rounders from the past five years of NFL drafts who are starting anywhere are: Kyle Orton Trent Edwards Derek Anderson So, if you want to start in the NFL, you need to do a few things. First, play as many reps as possible in college, meaning all four years. Second, get drafted in the top 10-12 spots. Third, be a drop back passer who can read defenses and finally, play for a less prominent BCS conference program, it appears . Of my list, only Big Ben and Flacco played outside of a BCS conference. Anderson played at Oregon State, Edwards at Stanford, Orton at Purdue, Rivers at NC State, Manning at Ole Miss, Cutler at Vanderbilt, Ryan at BC, and Rodgers at Cal. The "projects" came from USC, Texas, LSU and Notre Dame.Of further note, the programs that produced the starters were pass-oriented, but not a gimmick offense, and none of those QBs in college were considered to be a significant running threat. If Pryor is getting any decent advice at all, and I think he is and will, he'll stay for a full four years and continue to develop as a passer. He knows that's what he has to do to reach his goals. |

USC was going into this year with a true freshman QB, the first one that has ever started at USC. They were going having just lost their offensive and defensive coordinators to Washington. They were missing their one deep threat receiver due to injury. Everybody before this season said this was the year the Trojans rebuild and not reload like usual. Everybody said they were beatable. |

Are you guys seeing the comments Devier Posey supposedly made about Terrell Pryor? SportsCenter is on in the other room and I heard them quoting Posey. I didn't hear the whole piece, but apparently Posey said "there is only one Tim Tebow...I don't know what Ohio State fans expect...he will get better...he couldn't get worse."
Is that an accurate quote? |

The closer we get to game day, the more I feel like Pryor will have this chip on his shoulder and completely GASH the Gophers both in the run game and the pass game. All this bashing of Pryor and the Buckeyes by the media is only adding fuel to the fire. I'm excited to see what kind of offense we see tomorrow!
