Some fans are truly delusional, I guess. Do you seriously believe that Terrelle Pryor will make a lifetime decision based on a "crazy off the hook atmosphere" or "fireworks"? If Terrelle should choose Ohio State, then he will have the opportunity: (1) to start early in his career, (2) to play in a sophisticated, multi-threat offense, (3) to play for a head coach who has proven his ability to develop quarterbacks, (4) to become part of a program that consistently produces NFL talent, (5) to play in the national media spotlight on a weekly basis, (6) to become part of a special recruiting class that will contend for national championship, (7) to participate in the history and tradition that is Buckeye football, and (8) to be mentored by Jim Tressel and his staff, in football and in life. All that is not enough, I suppose, but a bunch of drunks chanting "PRYOR!, PRYOR!, PRYOR!" will seal the deal....

Some of you need to take a step back and realize that the fans don't make the program or the school great, regardless of whether you "are as loud as can be" or "put on a great display". Enjoy the show, but realize that you are not the show.

I'm sure that the occasional kid is completely moved by the game day atmosphere, but most seem to understand that there' a lot more at stake. Pryor seems like a fairly quiet young man who is letting the process run it's course and making his evaluation based upon a ton of factors. Meanwhile, he's trying to win a HS championship, do well at school, etc. He seems like a neat kid.

So, is it good or bad to be Terrelle Pryor these days?

We would ask Terrelle himself, but that phone of his, well, it's always full. Full of text messages from friends. Calls from recruiters. Calls from recruiting services and homer Web sites. Calls from media. Calls, calls, calls.

So many calls they have to be filtered through his high school head coach, Ray Reitz of Class AA No. 1 Jeannette.

Pryor, Jeannette's quarterback, is this year's LeSean McCoy, another recruiting pin-up.

Pryor is the consensus No. 1 senior recruit in the nation, if you believe the recruiting yip-yap, which is a very dangerous thing. (Note: McCoy, the former Bishop McDevitt player, was not considered the nation's No. 1 recruit in 2005, although some services had him listed as the nation's top running back, often paired with current Ohio State RB Chris Wells.)

Pryor's father, Craig, is wheelchair-bound, battling a neuromuscular disorder. He's only 39.

His parents are divorced -- Dad living in West Newton (ironically, in Yough's school district), Mom in Johnstown -- so Pryor moved in with his godfather, Willie Burns, to be with his friends.

Best of all, he has a 3.3 GPA. Frankly, the recruiting wheel would be spinning at top speed for Pryor if that number was lower, but the fact that he is serious about his academics has turned his recruiting into a full-fledged frenzy.

I haven't really kept up with the recruitment of Pryor as a basketball player. Are there teams out there who are still trying to get him as a basketball player primarily?

Paul Zeise: Yes, I think you are on to something --- everything Pitt is doing is a ploy to lure Terrelle Pryor. Forget trying to win, forget trying to do what's best for this team, forget the fact that LeSean McCoy is the team's best player and thus coaches wanted him touching the ball on every play -- it is all about trying to land a Class AA football player who already told them he is not interested and, for all the hype, did not even lead his team to the state championship, which you would think he would have done by now given that he is being talked about as if he is can't-miss, NFL hall of famer.......

Believe me, I don't have very high hopes, but according to ESPN, Pitt is back in the mix.

Elite athlete prospect Terrelle Pryor's high school coach, Ray Reitz, told ESPN's Tom Luginbill that his star senior is now only considering Florida, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia. Additionally, Pittsburgh, which had been previously eliminated from contention, is back in the mix.
Alabama, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Michigan State, and Notre Dame made Pryor's final 11 but are no longer in the running.

By the way, add up the schools in that quote... they don't equal 11.

That's because Pitt wasn't part of that initial 11. I doubt ESPN lied... but it's obviously possible that coach and player are thinking different things. Like I said, it's really not that big of news... it's just interesting that Pitt is being brought up again.

He is a buckeye! When recruits say they are down too 5 or 6 schools they are really down to 2 or 3. He is really deciding between WV and OSU and IMO he is a Buckeye.
