Sounds like he's willing to take his time to be sure, but there's been nothing but positives coming from him and others in regards to Ohio State.

This is the big fish out there right now IMO. Just imagine a backfield with Pryor and Berry a couple years down the road...

I agree 100% Berry is the big fish Adams and Hall will just be icing on the cake .

Though nationwide the number of elite running back prospects may be down a bit in 2009, the quality and quantity in the Southeast, particularly in the state of Florida, is unprecedented. Almost half of ESPN's top-20 backs this year reside in the Southeast, with a striking 15 out of the top 40 coming out of Florida. The Sunshine State boasts the No. 1, 2 and 5 running backs in Jaamal Berry (Miami/Palmetto), Trent Richardson (Pensacola, Fla./Escambia) and Jarvis Giles (Tampa, Fla./Gaither).

While all three Florida backs have been very productive during their high school careers, they each possess a different kind of running style, a microcosm of the position in the state this year. Florida is loaded with backs in many different shapes, sizes and styles to fit a program's specific needs.

Berry, the top-rated runner in the country, is the best-rounded of the trio and the only one who has not yet committed. He has obvious perimeter speed and elusiveness, but it's the 185-pounder's deceptive in-line running strength and power that separates him. Berry is a home-run threat when he finds an open seam in the second level and also has the compact body structure needed to be productive between the tackles at the next level.

The last time we spoke with Berry he said Ohio State was at the top of his list, but he was not planning on making a decision until after he took some official visits this fall. Although the Buckeyes' class is almost full, expect them to hold a spot for the nation's No. 1 back from now until this February.

Jaamal Berry (Miami/Palmetto), the top running back prospect in the country, still has Ohio State at the top of his list. He will visit Columbus officially for the Michigan game on Nov. 22 but has a couple of other visits in mind as well. "I want to visit LSU officially for the Georgia game (Oct. 25) and also want to visit Ole Miss officially for the Auburn game (Nov. 1)," Berry said. "I also want to visit Michigan, but I have not set up a date for that. Florida also is still in it for me."
Berry stays in touch with his Ohio State recruiter, Paul Haynes.
"He's a good guy and I talk with him all the time," he said. "It's Ohio State on top and then after that, all the ones are basically even. I basically love their coaching staff. I went to their spring game and really have not really been anywhere else. They blew me away on that trip and they also are a great school academically."

Palmetto, Hallandale win tuneups

A major part of Miami Palmetto's offensive strategy is simple. Get running back Jamaal Berry the ball in open space. Berry benefited as Palmetto's offensive line was overpowering the entire game, leading it to a 21-6 victory over Miami Springs in a preseason game at Ted Hendricks Stadium.

Berry (5-10, 180 pounds), who did not play the first quarter for disciplinary reasons, totaled 155 yards on eight carries and scored a pair of touchdowns that made the difference.

Berry showed off his 4.31 speed early in the third quarter when cut back toward the middle of the field and outran the Springs secondary on a 79-yard touchdown run. In the fourth quarter, he broke outside and raced to the end zone again for a 42-yard touchdown.

Berry is rated the No. 11 overall prospect in the country by ESPN.com, and has 25 scholarship offers including Florida and Ohio State.

''Berry ran like we know he's capable of and the o-line did its job,'' Palmetto coach Larry Coffey said. ``But we saw some things that we need to correct like penalties in the red zone. That's what the preseason's for.''

Does Scout not have a proofreading department? Or even a spellchecking one for that matter?

I still think it's good practice to at least ask a kid to make explicit what his thoughts are on school X (in this case: Florida) so that then it can be distorted to appeal to the audience, but no matter. With just under "eiht" months left in his recruitment, I'm sure Berry-to-Florida is possible.

I was talking to him and Justin Green today at the game. He's ready to pull the trigger, but his coach is kind of pushing UF. Justin Green didn't think him wanting an offer from another school would make such a big deal, he said he wanted it, "just because. I'm committed to play here for good."
