[CorchMeyers]Not sure how anyone can say that [fill in name]actions are any indication whatsoever of our program, i.e., being "out of control", seeing as he technically isn't even in our program yet. Now once he sets foot on campus and becomes a UF student and a member of the football team, then his actions could be deemed reflective of the program...but not until then.[/CorchMeyers]

Tressel: Berry's immediate future unclear (Blogging the Buckeyes) |

Coach Tressel wont just let him get away or "SKATE" by, there's different ways to discipline or deal with this soon to be buckeye rather than just kicking him off the team and sending a message to the entire team. I would bet he still competes for a position, the media and a judgmental public has no say nor do they put any pressure on Coach tressel i am confident the descision Coach makes is best for the team. I say give the kid another shot he will be away from florida and the peer pressure friends have on you and hopefully he makes an impact on the team im excited to see him play

yea.. but see this is what i'm afraid of. It's better than whats going on in the sec, so were fine. I think this can become a really bad attitude for big ten programs dealing with such issues. it is funny to think of, but i just dont want to see us loosing some of our own integrity just because half of the nation has lost all of theirs.

If he had been in ohio
then anything less than 100g would have netted him a minor misdemeanor
Ohio Revised Code section 2925.11(A)(3)(a): A) No person shall knowingly obtain, possess, or use a controlled substance. (3) If the drug involved in the violation is marihuana or a compound, mixture, preparation, or substance containing marihuana other than hashish, whoever violates division (A) of this section is guilty of possession of marihuana. The penalty for the offense shall be determined as follows: (a) Except as otherwise provided in division (C)(3)(b), (c), (d), (e), or (f) of this section, possession of marihuana is a minor misdemeanor. (b) If the amount of the drug involved equals or exceeds one hundred grams but is less than two hundred grams, possession of marihuana is a misdemeanor of the fourth degree. The penalty for a minor misdemeanor in ohio: $150 + Court Costs... and in a marijuana case, a suspension of the defendant's drivers license SHOULD HAVE ENROLLED EARLY! |

I don't mean to pick on you, particularly since you nodded in the direction of this point yourself. But to make the blanket statement that you don't expel a "family" member for his first or second mistake is fairly meaningless. The punishment for a "mistake" is based on 1) how serious that "mistake" is considered to be, and 2) how many "mistakes" have been made. It's not just the second.

Why worry about him being 5'8"? I don't understand why people make a big deal about the height of running backs. How does being tall help a RB? If anything, I'd prefer a RB who is a little on the short side than on the tall side. They have a lower center of gravity, can better hide behind the line, are harder to get a good hit on and are generally more agile/elusive than tall RB's.

Personally, I'll take my B10+1 RBs built like a tank... who can and _want_ to run over and thru you... If I never see a sub 5'10" back in S&G trying to run between tackles again... it will be too soon. |

You say that as if it's a simple decision. To enroll early, you have to graduate early and that takes a lot of planning. It isn't done on a whim. Not to mention Jaamal apparently had to spend much of his senior year getting his academics in order...

Now I tend to look at things a little differently than most people and when I read that sentence, I took it as slamming the SEC and their appearnace of not taking off the field issues as seriously as JT. I didn't see the concerns or fear that you may have seen, I actually see the opposite...a reaffirmation of the standards that JT has for his players, his program, and his university. And as a 2 time alumnus of OSU that is exactly what I want (as well as continual dominance over the skunkbears). |
