Evaluate each individual on his own merit. There are plenty of players under 5'10" who excel between the tackles.

Yes, Archie is a fair example of someone who is sub 5'10" and did fine between the tackles. He also was one who ran over people.

I think that if any time over the last few years you saw MoW come in and knew the play was going between tackles then you know exactly what I'm trying to say here. I don't think that there is anyone on this board that can say that they didn't have that experience a few times over the last couple of years.

Gonna try to get back on topic as I may be a bit responsible for the slip:
I am looking forward to having a line that will allow for a 5'8" back to use his incredible speed to blow off long runs between the tackles. I don't think that it's as much the RB in this case as it is the line making the holes...

I don't think its so much of a case that little backs can't succeed in the Big Ten as it is a case of there not being any very talented little backs through the conference's history. When they accept a scholly here, and are extremely talented, they have thrived (Griffen, Ringer, Greene, Sutton, Hart, etc). Honestly, have we seen many other little backs come to the Big Ten who were of the level of a Brian Westbrook or Felix Jones or Darren Sproles?

He is that talented small back that the Big Ten has been lacking. The conference does not set which players can and cannot succeed. It is the players that define a conference's strengths. He would be no better of a back with 2 extra inches of height than he is now.

Darnell Autry was only 5'10. Height is important for a number of positions, RB isn't one of them.

JB will do well here. Comparable speed to MoWells, but more powerful, IMO.

Height doesn't mean much. It's about body composition and running with a low center of gravity. Backs built like Sam McGuffie and who run like him get punished. But a back like Boom Herron, roughly the same size, can succeed because he has a strong lower body and runs with a low center of gravity.

Berry is a complimentary back in the Big-10. Give him 10-15 touches and he'll be great.
