Im not gonna lie, UC has lost a couple of recruiting battles to Miami Ohio over the past couple years, but I believe if UC can maintain the momentum they gained in the 2007 season that will no longer be an issue and UC can start recruiting against Indiana, Kentucky, Purdue, Pitt, Ect.. With an occasional recruiting win over a Michigan or OSU every now and then. Now that high school kids realize Cincinnati is someone to look at, I think you will see much improved recruiting starting with the upcoming class.

UC will move game against Buckeyes to Columbus
OSU needed an 8th home game in 2012, so it had the UC contest switched from Paul Brown Stadium.

CINCINNATI ? The University of Cincinnati has agreed to move its 2012 football game with Ohio State from Cincinnati to Columbus for nearly $1 million, school officials said Tuesday, March 18.
Ohio State wanted to opt out of the 2012 game scheduled at Paul Brown Stadium, as allowed under its contract with Cincinnati, UC Athletic Director Mike Thomas said. The Bearcats then negotiated to play that game at Ohio State for extra compensation.

For those Ohio State football fans who are into advance planning, note this change: The Buckeyes will play Cincinnati in Ohio Stadium in 2012 instead making the trip to the Queen City. "Our idea was to try to get (another) home game that particular year, and we were able to work with Cincinnati and get it done," OSU athletic director Gene Smith said.
OSU first told UC it was going to exercise its option in the contract to back out of the road game. The two sides agreed to switch the game to Ohio Stadium with UC gaining yearly cash payments between now and then that will equal $1?million, according to a UC news release.
"It was clear that Ohio State was prepared to exercise its contractual option to vacate this particular game, but we were able to negotiate an enhanced agreement for 2012," UC athletic director Mike Thomas said in the news release. "UC had no legal recourse, nor means to stop this action from taking place, due to the language in the original contract."

why? because she mandated that kids actually do class work of harder nature to earn their degrees and that carying guns around campus, punching police horses, torturing roomates with a heated clothes hanger, driving drunk and 0.0 grade point averages weren't going to be tolerated?
please.
as a UC almumn, I say 'BRAVO' Dr. Zimpher. UC has had one of the top football graduating rates for years and is, annually, in the top 5% for its African-American student athletes. I don't know what 'grave' you are talking about, but I completely disagree with you. UC will be just fine athletically and academically. |

I understand why people might be bothered by this move in Cincinnati, but it was in the contract, was it not? OSU exercising its contractual right to opt out is no different than when any athlete or team does it. It takes two parties to make a contract, does it not?
As far as their coach saying they'd play "anyone, anywhere"...he's always been a good quote and has done a great job rallying the troops down there. But isn't he the one that doesn't want to ever have to play Miami (OH) in Oxford ever again? Didn't he say he'd play them on a neutral field, but doesn't want to have to play on their field anymore? |

yes, he did. But you are using it out of context a bit. When BK made the statement he was referring to raising the profile of UC football in the big east and that it might be time to consider not playing home and home games with MAC schools and playing home games with OSU, Oklahoma, VaTech, etc...well, Oklahoma and VaTech are still on for future home dates at least. | |
