I think we've got more interesting personnel combinations this year than previously. There are more versatile offensive players who can be put into "tweener" roles, Saine, Stoneburner, Pryor, and Flash, most notably. The "shotGinn" formation was all the rage for a minute, but once Smith proved that he could make any throw on the field, it pretty much disappeared. With all the talent and experience on O, it would be very possible to install some crazy schemes, but I believe the production will be fine without going to extremes. It would be nice to see some more spread formations ala 06, if TB can get comfortable with it. I'm sure the coaches will come up with a strategy that highlights the strengths of the players. Hell, before the 03 season, I thought a pony backfield with Lydell and MoHall would work like gangbusters. I don't think I've been more wrong about anything in my life!

I'd rather see the '07 PSU game offense. Brilliant gameplan and brilliant execution. We kept PSU on their heels the entire time.

I'll take that. Definitely a highlight for the O, playing against a very good D. I still think with all the talent a WR, and a solid O-line, they could open up the playbook a little more. As long as they move the ball, I could care less how they do it.

Thing is, Saine showed some great touch on the ball with that pass in the Spring Game; How about a little something for him in the shotgun?

Todd and Beanie aren't built for the spread. In '10, our personnel will be better suited for the spread. I'd like to see us take a page out of USC's '05 playbook. That offense was unstoppable.

Pretty sure I'd prefer to have 05' Texas' offense; do they not still hold the record for most points in the BCS era?

Why not '09? The most common assumption on the board is that Beanie is gone after this year. If true, what on earth is more suited for the spread than next year's personnel (except, admittedly, next year's personnel with another year of experience)?

I think Bauserman starts in '09. He's certainly capable of running the spread but I think we'd be better off with a mix of spread and pro style offenses.

Not so certain Pryor will be starting to blossum as a sophmore??

Naturally it will be a varied offense; we'll run a wide-open system and then throw in the power run and play-action. We've seen this before before, unless the 05-06 years were a dream?

I was refering to the 09'-'10 seasons.

Pryor could start. Just have a hunch Bauserman will get the nod being older and more mature. Not to mention he's pretty talented himself.

I highly doubt that Bauserman will start over Pryor next season. Once the light clicks on for TP, that kid is going to be special. I read a comment yesterday in the Dispatch where Tressel and Matta were at one of his high school games and Matta remarked that Pryor's dominance of high school football reminded him of how Oden was his senior year in hoops........Tressel agreed. You cannot coach 6'5 and a 4.4 forty time. What you can do is harness that potential into something special, which is what I think will be done with TP. Nothing against Joe B, I just don't think that Tressel can keep a once in a decade kind of talent (which I think TP is) off the field.

I pretty much agree with all his points; expect he still has to firmly develop his passing mechanics and footwork - especially behind center and in play-action. There's far more than just running. I'll admit though, having a trigger man that can run a 4.4 is sweet, but there's a bit more to it than that.

Which is where Oregon is right on, I have full confidence that should Pryor not be quite to the level we want by next season (unlikely) JB will be ready. The kids an athlete and he'll only get better as time goes on as well.
