I voted for Smith, for his record against scUM.

Could have just as easily voted for Dye, who has the same record, but Smith is of the modern/Tressel era.

Rex Kern hands-down. Did not have the benefit of playing in a wide-open offense like Troy but it was a very accurate passer, good runner, and one of the best ball handlers that I have ever witnessed.

These guys are all great Buckeye QBs, but c'mon...we tend to measure these heroes in terms of wins over scUM.

Can't say I've ever seen Tippy Dye play, so we'll have to go with my favorite Buckeye, Troy Smith...heisman trophy winner and Wolverine killer! Only OSU jersey I've ever owned.

And the guy was just fun to watch! Every time he dropped back, I just felt like something special could happen.

When dealing with history you have to let some time go by. Give Troy's exploits a few years to mellow in your mind.

I went with Schlichter, the most talented QB I've ever seen at OSU. How unfortunate that he couldn't go straight as I feel certain he would have made it in the NFL.

While I agree that people tend to remember the recent as "better" than the past - in terms of who's the greatest what (People remember Eddie George but either don't remember or weren't alive to see say... Jim Otis or Hopalong or whoever..) - I find it hard to believe that years will mellow 1,051 v. Michigan, 3 wins v. Mich, the Heisman, and so on to the point that Smith isn't the top OSU QB of all time thus far. I don't know... it's probably not fair to compare players this way, and even less so across eras, but no other OSU QB has walked away with the Heisman. In my mind, this particlar position is easy to vote on. Running back will be worlds more argumentative, I bet.

While I don't disagree I will say Troy was the only QB on the list that didn't play in an extremely run oriented offense. Tressel fell in love with throwing the ball in 06. I can remember games where we opened up the run with the pass. Not saying some these other quarterbacks couldn't have done this, we simply don't know.

I haven't seen any of the listed players pre-Bobby Hoying. I don't think that I know what they would have done in today's game anyway. Of the guys that I have seen, I think that Krenzel still remains at the top of my list. An injury against N.C. State tanked his senior year. Otherwise, we'd be talking about his two National Championships, 3-0 record versus UM, and undefeated as a starter in his final two seasons. Instead we can still talk about him being a NC title game MVP, 2-1 record vs. UM, and 2-0 record in BCS bowl games.
