Biggest shock, IMO, is Small only listed as a returner. Granted, this is a pre-camp speculation, but I would think that since it's in the Media Guide that the coaches would have at least proof read it. One website (I can't find it now) had a quote from Tressel, when asked about Small's omission from WR, something like, "Oh, really? I didn't read that." Uh huh. Perhaps Small is still under the dog house.

Another strange vacancy was Rob Rose's absence from the DL. More injury issues? I sure hope not. I have a hard time believing Tom Ingram beat him out without some sort of special circumstances.

Donald Washington's listing as a backup, I would assume has to do with his discipline situation. It is conceivable that Chekwa beat him out, I have no problem with CC starting. Clifford is still listed, although his situation changed very recently. Tressel was also quoted saying he will not discuss Clifford out of respect to other teams who may sign him.

Another area of note is LB, where Curtis Terry is listed as starter at SLB, backed up by Moeller. Homan is 2nd string behind Freeman at WLB. Terry is not listed at FB, which has Ryan Lukens backed up by Spencer Smith.

Josh Kerr, Connor Smith, and Evan Blankenship are all listed as 2nd string on the OL.

I know the coaches haven't even had a chance to evaluate the players since the spring, but this doesn't seem to be a reprint of a spring camp DC. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has some insight.

Is there a bigger set of bookends in all of college football?

I haven't been able to find a spring DC, but would Beanie and Robo be listed? I believe they sat out all spring, recovering from surgeries.
