Hope someone out there cann help me out with this one.
Everyone in my family is a life-long Buckeye fan. (We have 11 birthdays that are 9 months after Ohio State victories in the Big Game, dating back to the 1920s....) My Dad died last spring, and when I was cleaning out his den, I found a big brass key. Big. Almost 9 inches long, 3 inches tall, and weighing close to a pound. It had my grandparents names (Ren and Corinne) engraved on the front, and a date on the back -- 10-20-28. Hmm? Not anyone's birthday, not their anniversary. Then I noticed that the "loop" end of the key was actually an O, and the other end was actually an M. The O had "19" engraved on it, and the M had "7" The OSU Michigan game of 1928 was played on October 20. Ohio State won, 19-7. Oh! Has anyone ever seen a Big Game souvenir like this? (I don't know if my grandfather won a bet, or what....) I'd like to sell it to a Buckeye collector, but I have no idea what it might be worth. Here are links to a bunch of pictures. ANY help will be appreciated. You can contact me off-list at: klages@spacebabe.org Thanks, Ellen ------------------- http://www249.pair.com/klages/OSUkey.jpg http://www249.pair.com/klages/OSUkeyback.jpg http://www249.pair.com/klages/dateclose.jpg http://www249.pair.com/klages/Oclose.jpg http://www249.pair.com/klages/Mclose.jpg |

Now why would you want to sell that? Isn't that a family heirloom?

Just a thought. Check with the University, they might have some insight on it.

It's the key to the game! JO, a paradigm shift may be in order.
Klages - Whatever else you do, send the pics to the university store. That's a very cool item and they should get them made again. |
