Juniors - who stays and who goes?
Kurt Coleman has had a solid year and probably raised his stock quite a bit. He see's whats out there but I think he stays.
Brian Hartline - He probably didn't have the year he was hoping for statistically, but he had a solid year. Had a few drops. I think he stays. Anderson Russell - I'm not sure on him.. but if I had to put money down I would put it on him returning. Ray Small - Before his last suspension I thought he was a lock to come back. Now I'm unsure, I think he wants to stay but his pops wants him to go. I think he tests the market but ultimatley stays. Donald Washington - Chekwa kind of stole alot of his PT, so I see him returning. Beanie Wells - I'd love to see him stay. But if I was in his shoes, Id be gone. He's gone as well. Thats just a few of the starters who have played a significant role. Just looking to get others opinions.. ![]() |

Quote:
Hartline - Stay, had a good year, but he'll be the #1 receiver next year and he could put up big numbers with Pryor at the helm DWash - Stay, missed first few games, and his stock will go up as he will be one of our top DB's Coleman - Stay, could be one of the better safeties to come out next year Russell - Stay, I feel like he needs to grow just a little more Small - Gone bc of his troubles |

Kurt Coleman - Depends on where he is projected to go. Probably not a first rounder, but I think he will be next year so I'm gonna say stay.
Brian Hartline - Probably would not be a high draft pick, so I think he will stay. Dane, Posey, Hartline, and Thomas=amazing receiving group. Anderson Russell - Returning. Ray Small - Would not be a high draft pick. I'm hoping he gets his issues worked out and can return for his senior season. He has shown this season that he can be a serious threat in the return game. Punt/Kick returners have been a hot commodity in the NFL in recent years. Could improve his position dramatically if he stays. Donald Washington - I see him returning to be a very good player next year. Beanie Wells - Would be a dream come true if he returned for another shot at the Heisman, but nobody would blame him for leaving. He would have an immediate impact in the NFL. Probably leaving. As far as how the team outlook is next year, I like what I've seen from some of our younger players on defense. I know we're losing a ton with Freeman, Lil Animal, and Jenkins all leaving, but I like what I've seen from Coleman, Washington, Williams, Chekwa, Heines, and others. I think the running game is in great hands with Herron and we have lots of great young receivers to make up for the loss of Robo. JT has done a great job of keeping us stocked up so if we lose some juniors to the NFL, I still feel that we will be fine. Going to be an exciting next few years in Columbus. |

I just hope he's not anywhere to be found like he was the first 3-4 games. But he did pick it up and ended up with a decent year.

I think that it all depends on where they project at in the NFL.
JMO but I think beanie may be back, I don't see him going in the top of the 1st round due to the games he missed and his health issues. Anyone else should stay even Hartline. |

The thing about Beanie is that he's clearly hitting his prime. Now, he's gotta ask himself, would I rather spend one more year in my prime in college or in the NFL? His body isn't going to get less bruised by playing one more year in college, so I think he goes.

I think Beanie's "durability" can't be questioned. He's played through every injury he's suffered.
He missed games because JT didn't think it was worth sacrificing his future, plus OSU had the luxury of having other choices off the bench to give Beanie a spell. If Beanie had veto power, he'd have played every game. NFL evaluators will know this. |

The durability issue is what I am thinking about. What do the NFL evaluators think about it.
If they feel he will miss a lot games that will hurt his draft. So just what is his draft level? |

Beanie should go. He's a top-10 pick.
Not so sure on the WRs - IMHO neither are strong draft picks, but I can't call it. All of the defensive guys stay. Coleman will be a beast next year, and the 2009 D will be very good with a strong secondary, a solid DLine and some new but very athletic LBs. |

All the draft analyst I have seen predict that Beanie will go in the top 10. I think his durability will be questioned much in the same way Adrian Petersons was. I would love to have Beanie come back, but if I were him I would be gone. Regardless, thanks for the past three years Beanie!

I've seen Beanie projected as high as the top five. I've also heard Tressel say in the past that if a player is projected that high, he really encourages them to leave.
Another thing about Beanie is that he's proven that he doesn't shy away from responsiblity and being "the man". There's being the man on the field, which he definitely is, and then there's being the man in life. I get the feeling that he's both. He has a huge family in the inner city of Akron, I can't imagine they have a whole lot of money. He loves this program, the coaches and his fellow players. I'm pretty sure he would love to come back for one more year, but he's got to do what's best for him and his people. For him, I can't imagine that means staying another year. If he were any different, he wouldn't be Beanie. Gonna miss his big funny shaped head, and I'm going to root like hell for him on whatever team he goes to. -z |

I also think Hartline is gone. I don't think he improves his stock at all by staying an extra year.
Beanie should be gone. I hope we get to see another game before he leaves. His inury looked pretty nasty yesterday (looked like he re-injured his foot although they reported a hamstring). If Ray Small leaves I'm not sure to where. I doubt he'd even get drafted. I thought D Wash was a candidate to leave but he hasn't had enough action this year to solidfy a good draft position. Plus, he's a starter next year opposite Chimdi...a great opportunity to raise his stock. Anderson Russell isn't a candidate to leave IMO. Coleman can significantly improve his stock by waiting a year. This is a pretty deep safety class. Off topic...but even with Malcolm, James, and Marcus leaving...our defense should be very experienced and a relative strength. Especially with the improved play of Moeller and Hines. |
