So how often do you think we'll rotate the OL vs. Navy? Will Hall, Mewhort, and Linsley see a lot of pt or will it be more like last year vs. YSU?
I would like to think we would be focusing on getting reps for the kids who will be starting vs USC rather than watch a group of true Frosh remind us why OL generally redshirt. Along the same line, it would be quite remarkable to see three of four true Frosh OL not RS. I am not yet ready to bet that this will happen - regardless of what the depth chart currently says.

Bigjim. They released the first depth chart yesterday and it had Andy Miller first team and J.B. Shugarts second team. That doesnt mean that it's set in stone but i guess it's as good as anything to go by.

Thanks.

A lot could change by the end of the year and there are three reasonable possibilities right now, hence the scUM game part of my question.

I'm with you...the three are phenomenal players but to think both of Mewhort and Linsley will burn a redshirt to play in the two deep over Smith (RS Junior) and Moses (RS Senior). Not saying it won't happen but I'm just not ready to write those two off yet. If the three really are just that good than watch out though. If they are in the two deep, I think they could see some minutes but in all honesty, the staff will focus on building some cohesion with the starting unit in all likelihood. Last year we may have even had the talent but not the chemistry needed...it's imperative that this unit works well together and by September 12th.

O-Zone: Updated freshman list of who will play/redshirt

Looks like Linsley is a lock with Hall and Mewhort on the bubble.

O-Zone: Tress said Hall is leaning on the side of playing while Mewhort is leaning towards not playing

Definitely something I'll be watching for vs. Navy.

Ohio State Buckeyes football team sets its offensive line heading into game against Navy

Wednesday, September 02, 2009 Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter

Columbus- Jim Tressel saw his offensive line - his set, healthy, first-team offensive line - in practice Monday night, and the Ohio State coach saw what he needed to.
"In full pads - it wasn't like it was shorts or anything - in full pads our offensive line looked a little bit crisper and quicker and more confident in what they were doing than I had seen them in the last week or so," Tressel said.
Jim Cordle at right tackle, Bryant Browning at right guard and Mike Brewster at center had been set all camp, and with left guard Justin Boren back from a knee injury and Andrew Miller winning the battle with J.B. Shugarts and Mike Adams for the left tackle spot, that side is finally settled as well.
"We needed a left tackle and we got one," Cordle said. "We got Justin hurt, and I didn't think he'd be able to get back as soon as he did, so I was glad to see that. So any kind of questions I had are answered. And myself at right tackle, I've done a great job all camp. I'm feeling great and comfortable."
Against Navy on Saturday, much of what the Ohio State defense does will be thrown out the window as soon as the game ends. Facing the Navy triple option will not be a gauge of how the OSU defense will play against USC in week two.

Yeah, I would rather have had him tell us that he really doesn't know any of the plays, has missed numerous assignments, and occasionally forgets the snap count because he's deeply entranced by a particular blade of grass.

He has been quick to mention that's he's the RT every chance he gets. Part of that may be to remind people that he's still here and that he wants the RT job. He hasn't been considered for the LT job, and normally the best/most athletic tackle goes there. Cordle wants to remind everyone is HIM and not Shuggarts.

Cordle can self-adulate himself () all he wants if he's doing a good job. We'll find out Saturday.

Have you ever been a 1st-grade soccer coach?

Jim Cordle is one of the most low key, down to earth guys on the team. He is smart as a whip and he knows the playbook better than any of the other guys up front. For him to say he had a great camp and to stake his claim as the RT, to me, means exactly what he said in an honest evaluation of himself.

Some of the posts about leadership and being rah rah guys when it comes to the line speculate that he may not be fit to be a leader, but what I can tell you is that Jim gets along with the other linemen, leads by example, watches more film than most and when other guys have a question about anything on the OL, they can go to Cordle.

When I was drawing plays for assignments vs fronts for Coach Bollman, I would do my stuff and have Jim check it before I would take it to Bolls. Jimmy Cordle may not be the loudest guy running around, but he is a solid guy in the locker room, in the film room and on the field.

Good stuff. I like Cordle and really hope he has a great year (as we all do I'm sure).

FYI, I've had a great camp as well. I think I may rival O8ch in terms of my nacho consumption so Nacho Biatch better be on the lookout for me.

I hope you guys are right without a doubt.. My problem is, if he's had such a great camp, why is the 4th captain spot rotating on offense?
