No inside info here but it seems like if we were playing Penn State this weekend, Boren would be playing.

That article about what was going on during the Purdue game is very troubling to me.

It seems that the issues being described are issues that would be worked out during the summer.

The [censored]ing snap count?

Not only is the snap count getting messed up by, seemingly, everyone involved, but they couldn't get it ironed out during the game?

Just seems like this was a minor problem that should have been able to be worked out DURING the game.

Going into the season, Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said the play of the offensive tackles would be critical in determining whether the Buckeyes would become true contenders for a fifth straight Big Ten championship.

"I feel as if we're contending right now," Tressel said as he prepped his team for today's game at Penn State, the 10th game on the schedule.

But will Ohio State, tied with the Nittany Lions for second place behind unbeaten Iowa, still be a contender when the day is done? Right tackle J.B. Shugarts and left tackle Jim Cordle, at right, will have a lot to say about that, considering that they are going against the No.1 defense in the conference, anchored by active defensive ends Jack Crawford and Eric Latimore.

When the season started, Shugarts was Cordle's backup at right tackle before a foot injury sidelined Cordle. Andrew Miller started at left tackle but was replaced by Mike Adams three games later and, after that, Miller missed two games with the flu. Adams is hurt now, which necessitated Cordle's move to left tackle.

So about those tackles

"If we continue to contend, we're going to need good tackle play," Tressel said. "I think J.B. Shugarts has shown a lot of improvement and I think (freshman backup) Marcus Hall has shown a lot of improvement."

On the other side, having to juggle starters has hampered development, Tressel said, "But the good news is, both those kids (Cordle and Miller) have been back for a couple weeks now.

"If we're going to contend, they're going to have to play well against very good players."

Miller should be starting, IMO. Looks a lot better to me than Cordle at LT and more consistent than Adams.

So yeah, that was pretty much the best game I can remember the OL playing in a very, very long time. Against a damn solid front seven to boot. Lets hope that was them finally realizing their talent and beginning to gel. I was really impressed with Marcus Hall after Shug went down...

If our O-line can play like that consistently, teams are going to have trouble playing us. Our backs were routinely picking up 4-5 yards, until finally PSU started to crash their outside LBers and totally neglecting playaction. Well played game by our Big Uglies and a solid coached game by our staff.

If that is all it takes to motivate them I hope Herbie is critical each and every week.

As do I. I can guarantee you that was Herbie's intent, he doesn't want to see this o-line continue to struggle anymore than any of us do.

Iowa is going to bring more pressure than PSU with their D line. Our line is going to have to carry their performance over to this week so we can come up with another big win. Stay motivated guys!

Just looked at some of the replays...after Shugarts went down, it looks like Miller and Cordle spent the majority of the time at LT and RT, respectively, including on the long pass play to Posey. Adams played well in filling in for Miller, but I had always been satisfied with the play of Miller. And now it looks like our best line may be the one that we started the season with.
