I am hoping that Dane Sanzenbacher will be fully recovered for 2009 after the tremendous hits that he absorbed this past season. He deserves to be looked at as one of our top wide recievers this year.

Posey and Sanzo are pretty much givens as to being the lead WRs, but I'm really looking forward to seeing if Washington can step up and also what Stoneburner can bring to the table.

To me our best wide reciever corp that Ohio State had in quite awhile was Ginn, Gonzo, Robo and Hartline. Now things will be a little different because of Pryor at the helm, I just wonder if Ohio State can ever get back to the level of year 2006 and 07 or could it be better because of TP as the quarterback.

Posey and Sanzo are my favorites for next year. I think Ray, Flash and TWash have a lot of upside. Stoneburner may find a spot at TE and Carter may be too good to ride the pines. Redshirt? Anyway, I see that we have a wealth of WRs next year and a QB that will continue to amaze us.

Assuming we don't have Small or Hartline (hopefully not a safe assumption):

Posey should be our #1.. We didn't see a lot out of him this year, but I would expect that to change. He was in on a ton of plays, just didn't get the ball thrown to him that much. As Pryor gets better, Posey will become a more integral part of the offense.

Sanz should be a really solid contributer.. I really hope he learns to stop absorbing some of those hits or he could miss some serious time, which will not be good at all for us. It also just hurts to see him get slammed sometimes. But he has been a go-to guy for Pryor and I would expect that role to increase.

Stoneburner... I was hoping he wouldn't redshirt but would instead be a solid contributer. Hopefully that's more because we didn't have too many 4 or 5-wide sets, and not because he isn't as good as we thought. Our RZ offense has struggled.. A big tall and athletic target would be great to solve some of those woes.

Marlon Brown? ... Hopefully he decides to come up north, and hopefully he plays a major role. He is so talented I can't see him not getting major PT. Like Stoneburner, he could be a great RZ target, and also a deep threat in the game.. Very versatile..

Carter... I think he will see tons of PT. What a polished receiver as a freshman. I think he will be a solid contributer all 4 years. Gotta love hands like his. I love him already.

Washington? I kind of doubt he'll be a contributer to be completely honest. However, I don't really see why, he's seemed electric at times. I really hope I'm wrong on this one because I think he could be a great player.

Lamaar Thomas is our other speed demon type player. I would like to see at least one of him/Washington become a real threat. I also wouldn't mind Thomas getting some carries.

Hopefully one of the other freshman.. Hall, Fields, Jackson, heck maybe Berry a little, can make an impact at WR.

Either way I think we are really good at this position and we will only get better. Keep in mind we also have Ballard to throw to, and I believe Tressel is trying to use the FB's more. I think he's really trying to open up the offense more, trying to get a guy like Saine in a FB position... Just more options for Pryor.. And we have a ton of receivers that fill a ton of different roles. Small/fast/electric, possession receivers, big guys like Stoneburner and hopefully Brown. And of course on top of it all, the guy throwing them the balls.

I had thought that he RSed because of an injury and that he had impressed a lot of people as a scout team WR/TE. Anyone know if there's any truth to that?

walleyworld could go either way
Since there are quite a few potentially new starters, developing chemistry with each other as well as with Pryor will be important. It will be critical for the WR's to stay healthy throughout spring and fall so that they can get used to playing together.

HUH?
Better than '05 with Holmes, Ginn, Gonzo?

I agree that Sanzo is a valuable piece of the puzzle. He's clutch and a great 3rd down guy, and sneaky fast.

Man oh man, if Brown comes, though, we will be very explosive for the first time since '06. Brown and Posey together would really open up things for guys like Sanzo and Thomas, not to mention the TEs.
Looking for T Washington to step up also.

I think the downfield blocking is very important to JT, so hopefully the more explosive playmakers will prove themselves in that area as well.

He meant our top WR for the 2009 season I believe...

That said;

Lamaar = Ginn
Posey = Holmes
Sanzo = Gonzo

Minus the starting experience (and Ginn speed) I'd say this unit is shockingly similar to them...

I really appreciate your optimism, but those three WR's you're comparing our current receivers to, were fantastic. I think there is a ton of potential with 7, 8 and 12, but I am not quite ready to anoint them equals.

Yet.

Exactly correct here........ I would never compare Ginn Gonzo and Holmes with the current ones for 2009. Posey Lamaar and Sanzo have great potential here but not as equal to our guys of 2006. Just wanted to clear that up here. But I think that hartline if he stays will give us added depth in this department.

I'd really like to see Stoneburner develop into an Aaron Hernandez type player in UF's offense. He'd be great on drag routes underneath where he can use his speed and size on LB's trying to cover him in space. Would Tressel ever incorporate UF's TE shovel pass into our system??
