Buckeye 'D' ranked 11th overall by CFN.

I'd wager dollars to donuts that OSU finishes the season with better defensive numbers than half the teams above them on that list. Hell, Florida will probably put up about 11 million points on Georgia, so that right there shoots them down.

I would think that Russell is MUCH faster.
Hines is a STAR and plays closer to the line because he's more of a LB than a safety...but a hybrid by definition. Russell is nowhere close to a LB....that's what I assumed. You may have better incite than I do on this. Quote:

Where does it say that? I've looked over the posts a few times and don't see anything but I could be skipping over it.

"Osu used 3 safeties often today. Russell moved up to the star position with Hines back deep at safety, often as the deep man."

You sound like you have the inside dope.
I didn't realize Hines was that fast...is the moral of the story here. interesting insiyte Quote:

Looking back, Hines did play OLB at Glenville (senior year), as well as QB. From what I read about his pre-Glenville HS in Georgia, he played mostly RB, with perhaps some WR and S. Even though he played LB last season, it seems he's considered more of a S this year, I haven't heard of him getting any reps at LB going back to spring camp. Regardless, I was just saying that judging speed by position isn't always accurate, especially with an athlete like Hines.

Sounds like to me Hines is pushing Anderson to the Nickle spot. I have always thought AR would be a perfect nickle back....because he is so good in coverage. If AR could catch the ball he would have 10 picks at tOSU. Go Bucks

you know what's scary?? our defense.....scary for the rest of the nation. With all we lost last year i figured it would at least take a game or two into conference play for the lb's and secondary to come into their own......but HOLY SHNIKES they are leaps and bounds ahead of schedule. The dline was as advertised maybe even better. The bottled up the SC running game most all the night. The coverage we got from our secondary was outstanding. They broke up some big plays and even the plays they didn't break up, they were there to challenge the pass. Never expected Torrence to play the way he did....he played his [censored] off. It's hard to pick my favorite play by this defense from last night but the play that made me the proudest.....the play that made me stick out my chest and say [censored] you ESPN, Mark May, SEC fans, etc......was Brian Rolle chasing down that back on the edge. It may not have been the most exciting play or the biggest hit....but I thought it said a lot about this defense. The LB core is going to be special when it's all said and done.

Held USC to 118 yards on 40 carries (2.9 YPC) and Barkley to a 91 passer rating (6.0 YPA). Discounting the easy TD that the INT set up, this was easily the best performance you could possibly expect. They played lights out all night. Take that as a major positive from last night's game.
