I prefer to ignore recent history's effecacy for predicting future big game performance because, well, you know . . . .

Looks like Corp has a bruised knee, he's getting a MRI done tomorrow. Matt Barkley took the first-team reps for Tuesday's practice.

not saying this is going to happen, but true freshman quarterbacks in The Shoe at night (or anytime) makes me happy |

This kid isnt your average freshman QB though. I would be fine with him starting in the shoe or anywhere else as long as he is getting his reps in practice and CPC thinks he is ready.

ok, let me ask something crazy here. is it just me or is it possible that usc (especially fans, but also the coaching staff) could be getting a little overconfident with their ability to reload each year. I am in no way disputing the fact that USC has done a better job than anyone else turning over talent year in and year out, but come on, this is getting ridiculous.
I don't care how special the quarterback is, you should be seriously worried about a true freshman quarterback coming into one of the largest stadiums in the world for a night game against an elite program that is hungry for a big time win. Pete Carroll is a great coach, but everyone gets a little carried away with their ability sometimes (i.e. Ohio State, 2006). |

Unless Corp is injured, it wouldn't be SC starting a true freshman QB by necessity. It would be SC choosing to start a true freshman who beat out a player who won a lot of games his freshman year at Arkansas and a player who epitomizes Carroll's philosophy of taking care of the ball.

No matter who their QB ends up being, I hope the Buckeyes are preparing for a USC team that is every bit as good as last year. I think some are overconfident about how much this being a night game at the Shoe is gonna help. The Buckeyes have lost the last two of those and USC is a team that has played on the big stages and under the bright lights. |

Living in OKC I get asked how the Buckeyes are going to do all the time because nobody knows any other Buckeye fans. I say I won't know until the 2nd game. Given how USC and Ohio State have performed the last couple of years, I'm not sure how it could be any other way. If the Buckeye lines get manhandled the way they did in the Coliseum last year I don't care how good Terrelle is. I think everybody should be skeptical of this team until it produces a win against a USC, UF, or LSU. At this point I certainly can't make a prediction that the Buckeyes will win this game or any other big one until it happens again. Last edited by t_BuckeyeScott; 08-12-2009 at 03:07 PM. I hope everyone likes Barkley because that's all you're gonna hear for the next 3-4 years. Tebow II?
