You can pick it up at pauken liquor store in maumee I know I used to live there... Believe itor not Budweiser kinda sucks but its not expensive at all... may be a common denominator there

The gates are open about 50% of the time, it's that common. Try the west side gates first, better success there.
Besides Varsity Club, you got the Thirst I. If you're into pizza, Tommy's is the best pizza around. All of them are within walking distance and on Lane Avenue.
If you want finer dining The Blackwell is an upscale hotel that is part of the business school. It's the closest and literally 500 yards away from the stadium. It has a restaurant called Bistro 2110. It's finer dining with a good wine list. Here's a list to their site and menu:

In my experience, there is always a better chance the stadium is open during the day.

It was open quite a few days during last week as they were moving in graduation stuff during finals. I think graduation is today so it might be closed

It should be no problem. When I was home last christmas the gates by the Prez Club was open there where about 15 people looking around the staduim. I took a wazoo of pics!!!!

Eddies is a good place to we ate there around 2ish sat right down and ordered, mind you it was during Christmas break.
