You and I watched two different games on Saturday. 5 points at home does not a blowout make. It was a great win, but the bucks were but one more long play from disaster all 4th quarter and given the spot where the buckeyes began their last three drives only to end up with 3 points to show for it does not take anything away from what Mattison has done to improve their defense.

Michigan St is pathetic on offense. Wisconsin is a joke. They never had the best talent up there, but obviously that staff was doing a great job of coaching and scheming. They lost 6 coaches and now they look like [Mark May].

Don't know how you equate a loss by one point and a loss in overtime to the only "elite" team in the Big 10, but hey....
One thing I will say, the Big 10 looked bad because of the losses at QB at Wisconsin and MSU. Their replacements were not ready for prime time and next year doesn't look any more promising. Add to it the complete physical - as oppossed to fiscal- cliff jump at Iowa and whatever the hell happened to Purdue.

Nebraska's defense continues to be a sieve. Penn State has been gutted by the NCAA.
|
I'm not bothering to pull up scores, but I think the only 'blow out' Nebraska's defense gave up was to a hot Buckeye team. And much as it pains me to say so, O'Buttchin did one hell of a job to keep that Penn State team playing together right up to the very end of the season. COY worthy effort by him and I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up in Auburn come December.

NW has the best resume on paper in terms of who they have played and beat.
|
Did they beat Michigan? Ohio State? Beating Duke and Vandy does not a resume make.

More shocking is that we have BIG people saying that Purdue is the best eligible team to represent the Leaders in the BIG championship (and potentially the Rose Bowl). God help us!
|
By Big Ten people are you talking about your roommate, the guys at the Sigma Pi house and two friends at different schools?
I'm staring at the local rag - a Notre Dame band wagon POS- and I see nothing about Purdue.

It hurts OSU - not this year - but next year and every year after that this perception and/or reality exists because they will start higher in the polls, and will hurt their SOS, power ranking, and overall resume for this new playoff system.
|
On this we are in complete agreement, but go back and look at some of the September postings on the Michigan - ND game and you'll find many on this site who believe that
OSU need only win to guarantee themselves a spot in the NC. the way things turned out they might have been right, but only if ND had lost one game. No Big 10 team is going to get by an undefeated ND or an undefeated SEC champ for an NC spot for the next few seasons.

Seriously, people are debating whether the Big East is a better conference than the BIG. That's a problem.

Which people? Kids at Cincinnati? No one - even on ESPN- says such [Mark May].
