Dionte's listed as No. 1 FB

The depth chart for Purdue has DJ starting at FB. Great to see that after the effort he's put in.

We're going to see the future sooner than later. I think this kid will be a bright star for the Bucks.

There's a lot of talk about Tressel being loyal to his seniors to a fault and there is, of course, some evidence to support this, but there is also plenty of evidence that he is willing to give "special" young players the chance to play. Part of the problem may be that every player suiting up for OSU thinks he's special and must be a pretty damn good athlete. Witness the knuckleheads supporting MoC's BS; all guys who couldn't/didn't actually play for us. Say what you will about JT, but he will play freshmen and RS freshmen and I'm glad to see the youth movement that started midway through the season this year. Ginn, Pittman, and Johnson, among others, will see good minutes the rest of the year and it will pay off now and in the future.

Rug - I do believe that one of JT's "weaknesses" is loyalty to seniors to a fault. But that is a pretty good weakness to have IMO since loyalty is becoming a lost commodity nowadays.

Every scholarship football player is a damn good athlete or they wouldn't have received the schollie. Unfortunately for some (Cooper's, Maldonado's, etc), they did not have the ability/desire to raise their level of play to be a starter at OSU. What has been most encouraging about the youth movement this season is that is communicates to all that effort and striving to be the best will be rewarded no matter if you are a freshman or a senior. It also sends a message that if you can play at this level as a freshman, you will see the field which can have positives in the recruiting season.

Dionte is solid and is an upgrade over Schnitker (sp?) when Joe is out with injury.

Joe's out and DJ should, IMO, be getting solid reps at FB anyway. Joe's gone after this year and our ground game hasn't exactly been outstanding since Martin left; obviously not all Joe's fault. I'm glad to see him getting minutes.
