Yeah, doens't help that 3/4ths of the starting defensive backfield is hurt..
I was [censored]ed about the total lack of pass rush unless 2-3 LBs blitz, and then it was only 50/50... Got to change that in the next week |

I was sick seeing Underwood come on the CB blitz on go for the fake instead of pounding Orton.

I didn't understand when we left the cover 5...or at least mix it in some. Hell, the man under was giving them fits

wasn't the d's fault. by the 4th quarter they were all exhausted and sucking wind. shocking seeing as how we had lb's on wr's ALL GAME. its absolutely amazing that we held them to 24.
if you can't count on your offense for AT LEAST 20 points you don't deserve to win, period. |

The DL needed to make a play on the last drive and didn't get any pressure on Orton.
The defense played admirably for 1 1/2 quarters in the 2nd half - but they are very culpable in this loss. |

osugrad21 - Bob Davie is evidently much better from the booth than he was on the sidelines.
Called early that this could come down to tOSU's backfield standing tall. It did. The D-line can help the secondary stand tall by bringing pressure. At a crucial time, when they had Purdue half-way thinking that things were destined to go the Buckeyes way -- the D-Line could not get rush. Orton connects. 17-24 Purdue over tOSU end of story . For those keeping count-- Unless Troy connects for 6 pts on either of the interceptions, or tOSU keeps ball and gets 6 pts from FGs it still ends up as 24-23 in favor of Purdue. Too many Injuries. No Fox - No Salley -- No Win |

I agree...
D-line is too thin this year. That lack of depth keeps the rotation to a minimum which means bad news late in games |

Why aren't they playing in the rotation? |

Couldn't tell ya...but judging by how undisciplined the starters play, I'm not too anxious to see them. The biggest absence is any type of speed rush off the edge. Gholston will hopefully cure that next year.

one drive does not a game make. how many 3 and outs did the offense post up today? how many times do you expect to get away with aj hawk playing man coverage against stubblefield? there is a reason why underwood doesn't start... we were short 3 starting db's going against a passing team. were you expecting a shut out? don't get me wrong, i didn't like the a lot of the defensive schemes we played today. but when your offense can only put up 17 points and turns the ball over 4 fricken times... im sorry but i can't pin this one on the d. |

Great adjustments by Snyder at halftime. The young D played good. They played their hearts out. When your missing 4 starters on D it hurts. Tough loss today but I am proud of the way the team played today. They blew some key play late in the game. This season is just making us better next year. All we need on D is to develop a better pass rush with our d-lineman.
