Well, there's a schollie back...
Joe won't set foot on the OSU campus.
But I feel good about it. He was up front about it the whole way. Good luck to Joe Bauserman, I hope to see you in the majors. |

I think that he has a better shot at pro baseball than football at this point. Also, he will be getting paid much earlier if he goes the baseball route. Best of luck to him regardless.

i would advise any baseball/football player to take the for sure money and give baseball a shot first if you believe you have the talent to play the game.
football is a brutal sport and careers aren't long at all if they ever even get started professionally. baseball offers the money right away and the potential for a long career. |

Exactly right, Biatch. The wear and tear on your body in football versus baseball is not even comparable. Yeah, you get lots of injuries playing both sports, but their is not a whole lot of tackling in baseball, except by the fans on the umps. Kind of like a comedian commented once, the purpose of baseball is to sit down. Get up, bat, run the bases, go back and sit down.
I do also appreciate him being up front with the staff. Glad that goes both ways. I was disappointed to hear he had a good curve, as I was hoping he would be in both football and baseball uniforms for the Bucks. But you cannot begrudge a kid with that much talent who also seems to be a pretty good kid. |

Would it be possible for him to do the pro baseball and college football at the same time?

DiHard.....
it is possible....ala ricky williams.....but i think it would be a horrible decision for a quarterback..... he/bauserman....is better off giving baseball a shot...and then coming back to the buckeyes if baseball doesnt work.... just think about a 24 year old....talented...freshman qb....with professional experience......any coincidence that weinke did so well at fsu???? it is a no-lose/win-win situation for JT and the bucks..... |

I didn't know if it was a door that was left open or if JT said go ahead and play baseball but we might not have an opening later. I think that if the kid can hit 90 on the gun in HS then yes he should give it a try in the pros. Although I went to high school with a guy that was drafted by the Blue Jays in round 20 something. Went on to play Mili way and wound up the 22 pick over all after 3 years of college. (took a ball off the face in Columbus in his "homecoming" game and didn't pan out for that Yankees that I know of anyways)
It doesn't sound like a bad place to be in as an 18-19 year old SR in high school though does it? |

Well, with the way he's been pitching and with the draft position he is likely to be picked, he'd be stupid not to pursue baseball for now. DiHard mentioned Weinke, who was 28 or so in his senior year at FSU. Who knows, maybe Bauserman plays 6-7 years of pro baseball, retires, and pulls a Weinke plays college football at 29-30 years old. Hey wait, "pulls a Weinke"? Maybe I should've rephrased that...
