Thank goodness for Nile Kinnick in 1939. Without his win, Tom Harmon (who finished second) could have become the first 2-time winner when he took home the trophy in 1940.
And Kinnick was a great player and fine person who died in a World War 2 plane crash. Iowa's stadium in named after him. Here's a link to a bio of Kinnick:

I don't know what those are based on, but some of those are ridiculous.
Mike Garrett ahead of Les Horvath and Doc Blanchard?
Frank Sinkwich should be higher, as should Hop Cassady...the writer obviously selectively applied criteria based on different eras (benefitting some, like Joe Bellino, but obviously not others, like Ernie Davis and Alan Ameche, who should be higher than they are)
And how does Desmond Howard get in the top 10? If Keith Jackson doesn't utter his "Hellllooooo, Heisman!" crap he may not have even won it, let alone be ranked that high.
Any list that doesn't have Gino Toretta dead last and Medi-Weinke second-to-last has no merit whatsoever.
