Too talented to Redshirt, he'll crack the two deep.

Not too sure if he'll be as good as Wilson, Richardson, or Gholston right out of the box, and I don't see him being much better than, if even as good as, Barrow early on. While he played great in the AA game, keep in mind that the guy he was going up against wasn't a polished pass blocker. Everyone was almost as excited about Williams and Worthington this time last year before they got hurt, so don't forget we still have them...I think your excitement about Rose is more wishful thinking than objectivity.

I'm definitely high on this kid but, "Pie in the Sky" is not my Bag.
You may want to take a further look at the overall circumstances.
1. Rose's body maturity is similar to other player who have contributed early. See Mo Clarett.
2. Defensive End is one of the least complicated positions in football. See L. Wilson
3. Our Coaches like to rotate fresh players in on the defensive line. See the different players who recorded sacks the last 3-4 years.
4. Because no one really knows how a knee/player is going to hold up after major surgery we may be little undermanned at DE. See Worthington and Williams.
5. Rose is Tarblooder!

1. There are a lot of youngster on the team with "body maturity"...it's what you do with that body that counts. If you want to check out a "mature body" at DE, check out Gholston.
2. That also works for the other DEs ahead of him.
3. We rotate first and second string. If he's not in the two-deep and he's a true freshman they won't burn his redshirt, barring injury to someone ahead of him.
4. If Willis McGahee can return to 100% from his knee injury, I don't think Williams and Worthington should be written off.
5. Not every Glenville kid starts as a true freshman from the git-go. Smith didn't. Whitner didn't. Ginn didn't. O'Neal didn't. Terry didn't.

I was so concerned that he was just shooting for "mediocre" at the state meet. Thanks for helping me sleep today.

6th place in the shot put for the State Champion Tarblooders is doing well, I'd say.
56'11" is more than a full foot better than his regional performance last week and shows a 4 foot improvement over 2 weeks. If the track season went to the end of June, we may have seen a different shot put champ...
