If I had to guess I would say he has decided on a school and that school is Meatchicken. It just seems recruits say they want to check out this school, this school and this school then decide. That usually means I know where I want to go and I want to check the others just to make sure I am not missing anything. Just a thought. Hope I am wrong, but it is possible.
I feel very confident that you are wrong. I dont get from any of the latest updates why people think that Connor is going anywhere besides OSU especially scUM. His team camps there every year, this is his 3rd year in a row doing it because of one of the school's coaches connections to scUM and Cooper's inability to recruit/pay attention to the Cincy area for recruits. He wouldnt be a "team player" if he didnt attend the camp with his team that is widely considered one of the tops in the country [atleast it was last year].

Connor Smith is the last of my worries with this class. There are enough people in the know on here and BN$ that have assured us of this. Brown on the other hand, his recruitment is really starting to bother me. I used to think he was the slam dunk of the class but no so much anymore.

If I had to guess, we get 9-10 of the 11 offers out to OH recruits [as of today]. The only ? for me is Brown, in the end I think we get Gibson, Small, Rose, Smith, Coleman and even Mixon to go with the current haul of Wells, Homan and Ballard.

In little over a month we will have an answer...one way or another. Here is one thing I know...Connor is at camp up north and comes home tomorrow...and I have not heard of any verbal committment.

Brown has bothered my from day 1...the latest I have heard in the cincy circles is that he is a Louisville lean right now.

Connor Smith is #1

</TD><TD noWrap width=3></TD><TD vAlign=top>By Chris Pool Midwest Recruiting Analyst

There’s no doubt that the strength of the Midwest is and always will be the offensive line. The state of Ohio is absolutely loaded with road graders in 2005 and this group is led by Cincinnati (Colerain) tackle Connor Smith. Here’s a look at the rest of the “Top 10” offensive linemen in the Midwest.
</TD></TR><TR><TD colSpan=3>
1. Connor Smith, 6-5, 295, 5.0, Cincinnati (Ohio) Colerain
Dominates the line-of-scrimmage…Could play guard or tackle

2. Justin Boren,, 6-3, 305, 5.0, Pickerington (Ohio) North
A mauler that has already given Michigan his commitment

3. Lee Tilley, 6-5, 320, 5.1, Springfield (Ohio) South
Huge wingspan…good feet…Big, mean and strong

4. Aaron Brown, 6-6, 280, 5.1, Cincinnati (Ohio) Princeton
Has everyone in C-Bus holding their breath…Huge upside

5. Jake Bscherer, 6-7, 275, 5.1, Sturgeon Bay (Wis.)
Wisconsin commit has the frame and potential to be a great one

6. Matt Carufel, 6-5, 290, 5.3, Saint Paul (Minn.) Cretin Derham-Hall
Strikingly similar talents of current Michigan tackle Adam Stenavich

7. Ramone Johnson, 6-4, 315, 5.2, Chicago (Morgan Park)
#7 OL is the #1 prospect in the Land of Lincoln…Tough and talented

8. Brandon Jordan, 6-5, 290, 5.1, Merrillville (Ind.)
Illinois commitment could end up being the best in the crop of linemen

9. Bob Gulley, 6-4, 275, 5.2, Berea, Ohio
Stock on the rise…Impressive effort at the (Akron) Scout.com combine

10. Jarrod Smith, 6-4, 280, 5.2, Fairborn, Ohio
Exploded onto the scene with a strong performance at the (Akron) Scout.com All-American Combine…Jumped on an early offer from Indiana </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

The TSUN board seems to think Smith is headed to OSU.

A poster there said that the discussion has mutually ended and he would be floored if he ended up in AA. Pretty good source as the poster follows UM recruiting very closely, altho probably not as close to the situation as H&G.

Lets hope for good news soon....I know H&G is anxious to get this decision in the open so he can tell us more about Conner!

While Michigan waits word on one Cincinnati (Ohio) Colerain prospect's commitment intentions, another top-caliber athlete from that school, offensive lineman Connor Smith, is starting to clear things up in his mind regarding a decision. The 6-5, 300-pound Ohio product spent most of last week at Michigan's camp and was among one of the strongest position groups in attendance.

About 65 players from the Colerain program made the trip to Michigan to spend the entire week at the Wolverine's camp. This was Smith's third visit to Ann Arbor for that event and he came away with a strong feeling.

"I was very impressed with everything there – the strength coach, the head coach and the offensive line coach, Coach [Andy] Moeller," said Smith. "I was always comfortable with them from the word 'go.' I can't see how I could get more comfortable. This was my third year camping and my comfort level is already up there."

Throughout the week, Smith worked under the tutelage of Michigan's offensive line coach Moeller, and came away impressed with the Wolverine staff member's knowledge and resume.

"Obviously you can see all the all-Big Ten players he's produced with David Baas being the most recent," noted Smith. "He has put out great players at the offensive line position, so he must be a great coach."

The past two seasons, Smith has started at offensive tackle for a Colerain team that was recognized nationally for their prowess. This fall, though, he plans to switch to offensive guard and said that Michigan could be looking at him for either of the two positions.

"They didn't tell me to be honest," he said. "What I gathered from that is their plan would be to try me out at various positions."

Colerain teammate Cobrani Mixon has stated since returning from Michigan's camp that his intentions are to make a commitment to the Wolverines, possibly as soon as next week. Smith is close to Mixon, but says where his friend goes to school is not going to have any bearing on his own decision.

"Me and Cobrani roomed together up at Michigan and his decision, whatever it is, we'll still have that friendship and that relationship," Smith added. "That's really not going to have an effect on my decision."

Last year, Colerain running back Mister Simpson pledged to the Wolverines after receiving a scholarship offer at their summer camp. Before that, fullback B.J. Askew had traveled the route from Colerain to Michigan. On the other side of the coin, Smith's father, Joe, played football for Earl Bruce in the early 1980's at Ohio State. Because of the strong Michigan and Ohio State influences on Smith, some have speculated that a decision would ultimately come down to those two schools, but Smith says that assumption is premature at best.

"I guess people can say what they want, and that may very well be the case, but I would say that you can't just close your door and just look at those schools," said Smith. "You have to have an open mind when you get into this process. I think that a lot of people thought that from the word 'go' and it's premature for that. I wouldn't be doing myself justice if I limited myself to just those two schools even though they are great schools."

It should not take long for recruiting fans to find out where Smith will be going to college. Two more visits are scheduled for this summer, then the four-star prospect plans to have his decision in.

"For right now, I'm pretty set that my decision will be August 1st at the latest," Smith said. "Around that time you should expect a decision from me. My younger brother has a baseball trip in Florida so we're going to stop at Tennessee and Florida before I make my decision. Those will be the last two stops."

Looks like he is going to be the #21 prospect in the country according to Scout.

He seemed very impressed with their line coach.

Hopefully he was as impressed with Ohio State's. It sure seems that Ohio State is having to work a lot harder for Connor Smith's services than Michigan had to for Boren's.

You can't compare the two. Boren's dad took him to every Michigan game possible, and their household has had a very strong tie to Michigan even before Justin was born...Justin even had a photo of him with Bobo Schempburglar. Although Smith's dad played for Ohio State, the OSU iinfluence in the Smith household doesn't seem as strong.
