Scalping Tickets

I was hoping that you all could give some insight to the scalping scene. Right now Tickets for the Texas @ Ohio St game are going for $300-$5000 however I doubt that they will be that high closer to game day, and am likely to get to Colombus without tickets. Are there places where it is better to go to get tickets? Any help is appreciated.

I can tell you now, you won't have any problem next year in Austin if you have cash. Depending on the demand tickets will probably be from $50-$500.

Scalping tickets for the game can be done at two locations primarily. Lane ave. is the best place to find them. It's located one block over from the stadium on the other side of St. Johns area.

Food, tickets, and beer will be all up and down (Champions) Lane. Look for the scalpers with permits hanging around thier necks. Usually season ticket holders sell a few of the non-conferance game tickets and go to the Big Ten games to recoop some of the money they spent on tickets I believe. I would guess $200-$300 being the lowest price for a seat (being I paid $140 for the night game against the Washington Huskies with game day being there and all of that.) I could be wrong. Prices vary with the amount of home games in a givin year. How big the game is. And also the amount of scalpers showing up to sell makes a differance.

The other place is the approaches to the stadium itself from the parking lots. I always keep an eye out for vehicles passing near the stadium or Lane ave. for that matter. Because sometimes there are season tcket holders who drive up at the last hour to dump their tickets off. Read Cheap. I have done that only once got them at face value.

Don't expect to get them cheap, regardless of the time. Maybe after the game starts, you can get a pair for 200 bucks. Just remember that the face value this year is like $58 anyway. I would say you're very lucky if you can get a pair for $300 or less on game day/night. Whenever I have extras to sell, I don't sell to anyone wearing the other teams colors. They need to go to Buckeye fans !! Of course, most others will just sell to the highest bidder.

Good luck and have fun at the game.

a pair of tickets for $200 I would look at as being cheap. I'm expecting to pay $200-400 per ticket but just don't see paying $1000. Do you think that there would be takers if I set up a site looking to trade two tickets in Austin in 2006 for 2 tickets in Columbus in 2005?

Don't count on 'em being much cheaper than $300/each.

You might get some takers... a lot of people got burned at the National Champ. game...

Tickets will be expensive, with a few hundred you should at a min. get some endzone seats...

My bad, I meant 200 each , not a pair. I'd buy them today if they were 400 for the pair.

There may be a season ticket holder that would swap this year for a pair next year.

Actually, I kind of doubt anyone would be willing to trade....I guess it's possible, but I personally would be way to leery of getting ripped off, and you obviously don't even have the tix for next year yet.

If you're willing to spend up to $400 a ticket you'll be ok. My guess is for that, you can get primo seats...but any pair of tix is gonna be, at bare minimum, $300 - and that is for nosebleed tickets in south stands.

Thanks for all of your responses. Three of us are coming up for the game together but it sounds like we will be better off not sitting together, which isn't a problem. I understand why some would be weary of trading tickets, to be honest I would need to throw some additional incentives such as dinner and lodging but as I don't live in Austin that would be tough.

I can dig the $300 per ticket however the early amounts on the web are ridiculous wanting $5,000. If that is the difference in primo seats versus endzone, endzone here I come.

I'm really looking forward to coming up there for a game and hopefully it will be a great game no matter the outcome.

I've never seen tickets in the first row of C deck, right on the 50 yard line go for more than $500 per, even for mi[censored]gan in a great season...if you're willing to drop $300-$400 per ticket, you will land good seats.
