I used a credit card last week so they do accept them.
If you get up there (camp) and get excellent seats then reselling them would work but be careful, the market will be terrible if it is still raining.

I am planning on being there pretty early, before 6am probably. No offense to the people planning on camping out but I hope it rains all night to keep the crowd down who plans to camp. True fans wont care about the rain, people trying to flop a profit may not stay out in the nasty weather. Hope we get some tickets tomorrow.

Just to further reinforce the last few statements, if it is raining the value to scalpers goes way down. If you can get great seats it doesn't matter as much but the high dollar seats are usually not sold at the window. So if you are looking to make more than 20-25 profit on each I would seriously consider the risk. The last time I did that I got burned. Actually lost money on the deal due to rain, so have fun I I might see you in line about 6:30 am

Wow! What a wild day at the Ticket Office!

First off, we got there at about 7:05 a.m. This put us at about 80th in line, and we were told the first person in line said that they showed up at 4:00 a.m. Damn, some of you people are making me get up earlier and earlier Game-Day Saturdays to try and score tickets.

Now, things apeared fairly normal at first. We got the numbered wrist bands and were told the ticket window would open at 9:00 a.m. (I guess it's 8 a.m. for Noon Games and 9 a.m. for 3:30 Games). The window actually opened a bit early (8:40 I think) and we were told they were selling 4 per person...usually a good sign.

So, tickets were being sold for Penn State (even with the students back, which caused me a bit of concern at first). This is a good thing. But as we stood in line one of the "regulars" walked by us and told 'the line' that there were only about 120 tickets left. We weren't sure how he found this out but sure enough as we got to about 20 people from the window it shut and employees told everyone that there were no more tickets...Well this was a swift kick in the groin to us and the 200 or so people it seemed were in line behind us. So I believe only about 55 or so people actually bought tix (maybe 175 to 200 tickets sold).

I should say that one thing that shocked us was not that there was only 200 or so tickets sold this morning, because one of the 'Line Ushers' said that 2 years ago only 35 tickets were sold for the Penn State game. What shocked us (and made us a bit angry) was that an employee of the Ticket Office told us that tickets to the game were sold all day Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (but never put on line...only from walk-up sales) He said they do this sometimes... So now I'll have to wake up seriously early and wait in line on Friday mornings and Saturdays??? So that seems to be the main reason for so many people getting shut out this morning.

But wait! As happened for the Texas Game last year, while my friend and I wandered around looking for reasonably priced tickets from anyone selling, we started walking back toward the Schott to meet up with his girlfriend. And by shear dumb luck, at the exact same time (around 11:45) the window opened back up!!! A late group of tickets were turned back in and sold as Public Tix. Most were in South Stands, but my friend and girlfriend still bought 2 together at face value for the game...much better than the $120-$150 + dollars that most everyone else wanted for similar seats. (I don't know how many tix were sold the second run)

Anyway...So I went to the Stadium about 3 hours before kickoff to get ready for the game and my friends went to Skull session...end of story.

...But WAIT!!! As kickoff approaches and I'm helping check folks to their seats, I hear my friend's voice shout a familiar "O-H!!!" He went back to the ticket office (not satisfied with the South Stand seats they got since he's been spoiled with 50 yard line seats several games ) and asked if there were any more seats. He was sent to one of the ticket windows to ask and somehow they had C Deck, 45 - 50 yard line, row 28...very nice seats imo.

So, a quick summary: I'm sure there are many who were really hoping to utilize the game day ticket sales and got shut out this morning. But we learned today #1, there were Game-Day tickets for sale today...limited as they may initially have been. #2, I guess tickets are sometimes sold Fridays before game day. This still boggles my mind and I have no idea what else to say about that, especially why they were not put on-line if they had them. #3, just like when we kept hearing "There will be no Public Sales this Season" from the ticket office and that turned out to not be true, when the Ticket Office tells us "There are no more tickets for today's game." That may not necessarily be true either (the Ticket Office is just a big fat bunch of Fibers ). You have to get a little lucky or just hang out in front of a closed window hoping it opens again, but it may end up being worth it especially for 'that big game' you've been waiting to see all season. And #4, never be afraid to ask someone for help. Someone may just get you to the right window where those magical "extra" tickets may be found.

Don't know if today's wild adventures more helps or hurts the cause, but take it for what it's worth.


P.S.

A couple of unrelated side notes: The Assistant US Attorney General (along with some FBI agents and Federal Marshals) was in my section...He also went to the OSU locker room after the game (probably to give "Congrats" to the team after the W).

I also saw Bobby Carpenter around the locker room after the game...not sure which one (Assistant US Attorney General or Bobby C.) I was more excited to see at the game .

Hope some of you were able to get tix at the game today.

I didnt make it to the ticket window, but I was able to get tickets. I paid 100 for a pair in the south stands.

Padraig, you must of been right in front of me and my buddy. I got in line around 7 am and was about 10-15 back when they closed the ticket window. I was slightly angry about it because I was supposed to be in line around 6 am and my friend blew the mission. Sounds like you got pretty lucky with the window opening back up. We just went to the bar and watched the game. Kind of glad we did because that rain looked crazy. Atleast we didnt get soaked in line waiting for tickets.

You can buy 4 together / 'in a row' if they are available when you get to the window, but that is the first thing that will sell out (scalpers love 4 together)...then best 2 together, then usually any 2 together or best 2 as close as you can get them.

Thanks everyone for the tips on getting tickets! This is my first post as I read a few of the others the last few weeks!

I was in line on Saturday at about 5:40am and ended up being 19th in line. Ticket office opened about 8:40 and I got my tickets about 9:30........two seats in Section 7C but they were two rows apart.

When we got to the game, no one showed up in the seat next to my buddy so we ended up sitting together!

It was a fun experience except for the scalpers but what can ya do. Look forward to waiting in line for a few more games!

This is awesome information I actually read every freaking thread !!!

I will be making the trip from Montreal Canada in two years to see tOSU play against Michigan. I will be roaming around the ticket office like crazy unitl I get some seats... I don't care I will be there at 3 AM !!!

I can even "mace" some scalpers if you want... I HATE SCALPERS ... they are the only reason why I have been waiting for so many years preventing me from going to the Shoe and live the dream !!!

Hi Padraig,

I will be making the trip from Montreal Canada in 2 years to see tOSU vs Michigan at the Shoe. It would be a dream come true for me. Your post is so valuable to me because I have always been "held back" from such a historic event because of the high prices that scalpers want.

I only have one question to ask you:

When you say in your first post:

Does that mean that public sale tickets that go on sale on that morning are for "all available season home games". The reason why I am saking this is because we all know that tOSU vs. Michigan is the last game of the regular season. If I am to make the 12 hour trip from Canada to the Schott that morning will there be still tickets available or willl those have been already sold in week#1 of the regular season. do you understand what I mean ?

If so then I guess I will have to make 2 trips the first for week #1 and the other one for the game I really want to see...

If you don't understand why your statement of "getting all home game tickets for the season" concerns me please let me know and I will clarify.

Tickets that are sold the morning of the game are only for that game.

Correct. You can only buy Michigan tickets the day of (and now I guess I am finding out, sometimes the day before) the Michigan game (if they even end up being available then)...not August 30th, morning of the Youngstown St. game, "I'd like 4 vs. Michigan on Nov. 22nd please.".

Sorry if it sounded that way. But each Home Game Saturday morning last year and this season we got up early and stood in line each time to get tickets for that particular game.

Still hope the info helps and ends up working out for you and your friends. I know I was as excited as you when we discovered this situation (and still am ) and am happy others are excited too.

Thanks a lot Padraig. It's funny that you mentionned Youngstown State. Because does were the only tickets me and my 7 friends could afford this year ... That's right me and 7 of my buddies made a hell of a long trip to watch PSU vs Youngstown State massacre. Don't get me wrong my heart has always been at OSU but there is still charm into going to Happy Valley and beeing "there" with Jopa...My 2 other trips the previous years were at Chicago (yeah that's right I saw our very own Krenzel defeat Dorsey oct 31st....like the rematch at for the BCS championship)...Then I went to see Cinci vs Cleveland at the Dawg Pound.

I have always been more keen on college for the ambiance and the history. I finally convinced my buddies to go and see a college game this year at PSU. They finally have confidence in me and my "taste" in college football. So hopefully I can go and see a game at the Shoe next year and the one after at and so forth :-)
