Meyer Has Interest In Michigan Job?
Several of our sources have confirmed to us that Florida Coach Urban Meyer -- he of the 7 year, $14 million contract -- would be interested in the Michigan job if (when) Lloyd Carr is fired at Michigan.
Meyer, in stints at Bowling Green (2 years), Utah (2 years) and Florida (1 year) has an overall mark of 48-11 (.814) and is 29-9 (.763) in conference play as a head coach. Included in his 48 wins was a streak of 20 consecutive victories that was the second-longest in the nation at the time. His .814 winning percentage ranks seventh nationally among active college coaches during the last five years and his teams have been ranked in each of the last 33 Associated Press Polls, with 14 of those appearances in the top 10.
His first year at Florida produced a nine-win season and January Bowl game victory, the Gators' first since 2001. Florida's final ranking of No. 12 in the Associated Press Poll was also its highest season-ending ranking since 2001.
Forget the fun and sun ... I want slush and pollution.
Per our sources, the buyout provisions of Meyer's contract our not too prohibited to prevent him from moving to another gig.

Old news. Contract insiders on my roomates Husker board have already confirmed an out clause for Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame. Although if I remember correctly, it was not an option until the 4th year.
I will check on that again to make sure. I doubt Urban is going anywhere unless he wins a National Championship, and even then, UF $$$$$ may keep him. He's got to much of his talent, and people on this team to just give up now, IMO.
He really wants to be at OSU, he was an assistant grad student, and coached at Bowling Green and very much wants to be at OSU, UM or Notre Dame. He has publicly stated that in the local newspaper and student paper.
It has been noted on this website to me that there is no out clause like in his Utah contract, but that has not stopped the media speculation or 'insiders' from continuing the rumors. In 5 years, Tressel, Tubby Mc Fatty at ND may be gone, and Lloyd Carr will be killed by rabid scUM fans.

I know everyone things it is like 'Florida, oh la la, sun and beaches.' Well it isn't FSU and UF are in [censored]ty towns far from the coast. Although all the hot chicks from the coast come here, so it has its advantages.
If you want the beach and a nice lifestyle, UMiami is the place for you.

Urban
I don't post here often, but I know Urban personally, and through coaching. I can tell tell you that ND was always his "dream job," and he passed that up. So if he came to UM it would be a little bit of a surprise to me. I know that there were issues he had with the ND process, but I think that he will stay at UF for awhile, FWIW.

I thought ESPN published some elements of his contract already. The out-clause is extremely lenient, I believe he may leave just about ANY time for ANY school/club with very little penalty. But since he did turn down one of his dream schools, ND, to go to UF, I'd expect him to remain at UF for a while, or else it'd be like a slap to his own face.

He stays at Florida until he retires, is fired or maybe heads to the NFL. Florida is a top notch program right now so no other move in college football would make sense.

Unless of course he has a "dream school". LSU is every bit the program Florida is, but I believe Les Miles would bolt for Michigan in a second if given the opportunity.

HOWEVER, Florida is NOT the premiere program in the nation. And there are certainly better places to live than Gainesville.

There really is no singulay program out there because it is so elastic. Being the #1 program could change at the drop of a dime. Once you reach one of the elite schools, any other move to an elite school doesn't make sense unless you are an alum. Miles is an alum of Michigan. I believe Meyer is an alum of UC? I don't see him leaving Florida to coach at Cincinnati.
Meyer's dream school was Notre Dame. He had the chance to coach at Notre Dame and he passed them up. I don't see any other school that he would leave Florida for because it wouldn't make much sense. Unless of course he struggles at UF.
