They say you have to ask yourself who'd you rather have doing splits on your bar...

After I bragged on her yesterday, Maranda fell on the balance beam to start us out, and we promptly self destructed/choked our way to 4th place in Nationals, leaving the leg humpers to win another NCAA.

Are recruiting restrictions making it harder for college coaches to judge the character of their recruits? Florida coach Urban Meyer suggested as much on Wednesday.
Speaking at a Gators booster event in Miami -- less than a week after one of his players was kicked off the team after being charged with allegedly using the credit card of a woman killed in an accident -- Meyer said restrictions on contact with recruits hinder his ability to measure their character.
''The NCAA is pulling us off the recruiting process,'' he said, in comments reported by South Florida media outlets. "I'm not allowed to go out [to visit players] anymore. I'm not allowed to text message. I'm trying to find out as best I can. You just keep re-evaluating.
"If you just look around and see some of the things that are going on, it's amazing. It's concerning. It's alarming," Meyer said. "So we take a great deal of time and effort in trying to educate guys, work with them and recruit character. Are we perfect? Absolutely not."
Last week, Meyer kicked Florida safety Jamar Hornsby off the team after Hornsby turned himself in to face charges of credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card. Hornsby is alleged to have used the credit card of Florida student Ashley Slonina -- who was killed in an October motorcycle accident along with Gators walk-on Michael Guilford -- starting the day after Slonina died.

Good thing he recruited Hornsby before the text ban. Coach Urban Meyer is a man of ethics and principle.

Ron Zook has a special ability to treat people from all walks of life equally and with respect. He is especially beloved by minorities who can recognize disingenuous phoneys a mile away. Since a large number of the best football players are minorities, Coach Zook has an advantage in recruiting.

I concur. I'm not sure I see what in this article would cause someone to think Meyer was unprincipled.
I do think it's a bit ludicrous to think that being able to text message with a recruit would somehow let a coach accurately determine that he would be a candidate for repeated run-ins with the law.

Well, yeah, of course that's right. I think that he was speaking more about the totality of restrictions on visits, face to face meetings, phone calls and now text messages, as a generic "less-interaction/access-means-less-ability-to-appraise-personalities" thing.
Or at least that is how I took it.
FWIW, and not trying to de-scum Hornby's actions, but it looks like he stole the girl's dad's work gas card, which is just as despicable and [censored]ing plain wrong, but a 16 instead of a 20 on the 1 to 10 scale sleaze-o-meter.
