Edit: Meyer took a red eye flight from the filming of the ESPYs, where Tebow was named Male college athlete of the year, to the Sportswriters Association meeting in Miami, from whence the "best in our era" quote is alleged to have come.

They quoted him as saying that he "loves Tim like a son" Tim got him involved in a Christian group SCORE, and Meyer and his entire family recently went to the Dominican Republic and visited a girl's orphanage and a leper colony, calling the trip a "life changing experience". He is no doubt not the clearest head when Tim is involved. But how you look at that relationship and what it has brought to our program and deem it a negative, when the RichRods of the world are on a...different course, is something I do not see.

Urban Meyer make Rich Rodriguez look like a saint. He lied to Omar Hunter and told him Notre Dame's NBC contract wasn't getting renewed to try and flip him. He tells any Miami recruit they'll get shot and how Coral Gables is the hood. Matt Patchan gets clipped after he's a Gaytor. Doc Holliday didn't get retained because he ran around South Florida with cash bags. The official story is that Doc wanted to leave and THE state university of Florida couldn't find a way to match his WVU salary. Urban can't come up with the money to pay one of his assistants.

Doc coached at WVU as a grad assistant and position coach for ten years. WVU is his alma mater (Dickwad aside, it does mean something to some people).

You forgot to say how he left Florida as our safeties coach and recruiter to accept the position of Assistant Head Coach at his alma mater. I think that the position was created so that he will coach there a year or two and get them some south Florida studs, and the "Title" is an aid for him to get a job as a head coach at some Mac or USA type school, but that's only my guess.

Upstate QB talk: Simply calling Tim Tebow the best quarterback in college
football apparently isn't enough. Gators coach Urban Meyer told a Miami
audience that Tebow ''is the greatest player of our era.''

A QB that has failed to run a single successful two-minute drill wins the
Heisman and becomes "the greatest player of our era." That Florida
marketing machine makes Meyer "the greatest ad man of our era."

Tebow has all the tools to become a great player. IMO, a QB that
hasn't ran a two-minute drill to win a game has not achieved greatness.
When he proves that under pressure he can be a clutch player that
orchestrates the win, I will agree that he has achieved greatness.

Meyer is guilty of overexuberance and made a statement I found
humorous, but not offensive. It is his job to promote his program and he
didn't put anyone else down in the process.
