Truth is, the field goal was preceded by Tebow's attempt to throw a touchdown pass on a night when the Gators' potent offense struggled. That was Meyer trying to get the kinks out and it was just fine with his old teacher.

We had Eric Nappy and Joey Ijjas. We also had the option to not try the FG attempt and punt or go for it on 4th down. Do you have a point anywhere?

Other than a slappy, you are going to have to explain it, as your comment seems nonsensical and an absolute misread of the article.

The article was painfully homerish at times (though it kind of bounced between 'not a saint' and denying it), which is fine for his market. I just find the whole thing a bit humorous. Kicking a FG isn't exactly convincing evidence of 'wicked', nor is sticking with one kicker a very convincing rebuttal from .

I'm guessing if he could trust one of the other kickers (who seemed to have 0 FG attempts at that point), he would have trotted them out. Instead he stuck with his senior.

It's late, so I guess I wasn't explaining myself well. I'm guessing Urban thought Hetlan was their best chance to win. I seriously doubt it had much to do with proving his class by sticking with a lousy kicker, and thus setting up local articles praising that decision.

Getting upset over the FG is quite overboard. Had they thrown for a TD on 4th, that would be more gripe-worthy. The overturned replay was much more worthy of complaints.
