Well I think its very unfair to compare Ginn with anyone because no one is as fast, and can change a game like him. However, Hart is the best running back in the Big Ten. Maybe not in the shoe against our defense (which was nice to see), but against other teams he faired well. I agree that without Hart Michigan does not go better than .500, and they miss out on all major bowl games. He's a small back, but has a good O-line and should fair just fine next year BESIDES our BUCKS of course.

Hold on here guys..

1. I'm not comparing Ginn to Hart...that's kind of hard to do considering they play two different positions....my comparison was only in their chances as Heisman candidates...and that was just to point out that RB's usually have an inherent bias in their chances...

2. As for talking about Hart's running skills..

There are a number of different things that go into running with the football than pure all out speed (which Ginn has in multitude)..

Hart is not a burner...no doubt...he's not really even "fast" per se (as compared to fast on the D1 level)..

But that's not what makes him special...it's the other traits that he posseses..

1. Vision/Instincts...simply put..it's uncanny..he sees the hole before it opens, he sees the tackler before he gets there..

2. Balance...look at how effective Hart is at cutting, slashing, twisting, turning.....making tacklers whiff in the hole..

3. Cutting, shiftiness...see #2...Hart knows where to cut...he reads a defense very well..

4. YAC...this is where he really excels...how many times did Hart get hit, only to escape and pick up 2-4 more yds? A TON....and he ALWAYS seems to fall forward..

5. Fumbling...he fumbled ONE time last year....ONE TIME...

Now, those are the traits I include in "running skills" that lead me to conclude that they are "phenominal"...

What separates Ginn? Ginn (seems) to have similar vision and instincts to Hart...also he can cut and shift on a dime...what makes him even better is his ability to either not slow down getting into and out of his cuts...OR...if he does have to slow down...he's back up to top speed in the blink of an eye...

And then of course, there is that top speed...simply put...the kid is like lightning...

Put all those together...and it (seems) like OSU has a once in a lifetime type talent in Ginn...

yeah I agree Ginn is once in a lifetime..... can't compare many to him. I'm not much into the smaller backs, but I like harts game. I usually root for big ten teams when they're not playing OSU although it never hurts me to see MIchigan lose ya know? haha. Anyhow I think Harts a good/great running back, and anyone denying this needs to look no further than what Michigan's running game was BEFORE Notre Dame. Only thing I am skeptical about hart is that when he meets a decent from 7 he's not nearly as brave running up the middle and he tends to dance.

Overall good back.....

Hart is considered Heisman caliber by the media simply because he had comparable numbers to Adrian Peterson last year. This guy isn't going to be the last person to put Hart on the short list for the Heisman, either. The media is lazy and doesn't follow Michigan like anyone here, so they don't know that Michigan is likely to run three backs next year which will lower his numbers.

I don't see the point of comparing Ginn to Hart. They're both good.

After drinking a lot I must quote myself.

"Hart's an awesome player, but they're already making up numerous folksongs about Ginn."

Hart is a solid back, better than solid if you consider he is coming up on his sophmore season. scUM had a veteran OL last year. That helped a lot, as did the ability of Edwards to catch anything that stayed in the house. I think he will regress some this year because the OL will be young, the threat of the pass will allow defenses to focus more on the run, and if the defense holds form, many of their games will be shootouts.

Hahah, wow. Seeing as it was a Wednesday on campus, the liquid dope pitchers at 4 Kegs have been flowing, and right now they're hitting me pretty hard.

I don't think that is entirely accurate..

Michigan lost two key members off its 2003 line..

RT- Pape

C- Pearson (which really was a key loss, had to move an AA in Baas over because nobody else could)

So Michigan ended up playing a RS frosh at RT in Jake Long...and a RS soph at LG in Reuben Riley...neither of who had any experience...

And Riley didn't crack the lineup until 1/2 way in or so...after Leo Henige had started a few at LG and was then injured for the remainder of the year..

The line was really a mess at the beginning of the year..lots of combos that ultimately did not pan out..

1400 yards against the Big 10 and Notre Dame. Sounds impressive to me.

I recall a few years ago when Eddie George ran for 100 yards against Michigan, but Biaka topeka and the Sante Fe ran for 300. Did that make Eddie overrated?

Let's be consistent here. If you're going to say the Big 10 is a tough, if not the toughest, conference in college football then you have to acknowledge the accomplishments of teams and players within the conference. Hart earned his yardage against top, tough competition week after week and I look for him to be a bitch to handle this year also...

1) We only lost one starting lineman, Baas. Our second best lineman was Jake Long, a redshirt freshman. Besides Baas, the other four return, so we'll be as much, if not more, of a veteran OL than we were last year.

2) Between Henne's year of experience and Breaston and Avant's health, we aren't going to see a huge drop in passing success.

3) Well, you're not wrong about the defense. We're just hoping our front seven will be strong enough to take heat off the secondary.

It seems that everyone is forgetting about possibly the #1 reason Hart might not do as well next year. We lost our stellar blocking fullback, Kevin Dudley. Dudley is the reason Derrick Johnson didn't make much noise in the Rose Bowl; Dudley just smashed into him on every play. No one seems to know about Dudley because his catching and running wasn't great, but his blocking was second to none.

Mike Hart vents frustration

Did anyone see the post game interview with Mike Hart. He sure showed alot of class. Saying our defense isnt as good as everyone says. Even though everyone was talking about scUMs defense. And we torched them for 170 yards rushing. He also stated that if they got another shot they would beat us. Why dont you just swallow your pride and admit that it was a hard fought game that went our way. We just beat scUM and not even 3 hours after the game i have a new most hated wolverine.
