Iowa QB Drew Tate (official thread)
I was watching a little tape from the Iowa game last year. Did anyone else
notice the little running down the field with the windmill arms thing Drew Tate did after throwing a touchdown pass. I hope the coaching staff makes the team watch that clip about 50 times the week before the game. I understand getting excited after making a play but that little dance just smelled of cocky.
Here is to hoping that Mr. Tate has to wash his jersey twice after the game. I'm looking forward seeing the Hawks put back in their place more than anything else this coming season.
The celebration I am referring to can be found here:

I noticed it when it happened because there's nothing like watching the other team celebrate like a retard after they score on you.

I agree it's disappointing, but I'm one who also recognizes that it's a big part of the game, so I won't find Tate at fault for celebrating a big play. To that point, the Bucks had been something like 29-4 over the previous two years. Beating the Buckeyes was a huge deal for Iowa.
If you don't want the opposing QB to celebrate, don't let him march his team up and down the field at will. After that performance, Tate earned the right to walk into the pink, visiting teams locker room and do the cabbage patch in front of the Buckeyes secondary.
Another aspect of that win for Iowa was that it was only 6 games into the season, Iowa was already down to their 5th and 6th walk-ons at RB, and they had just been thumped something awful by ASU a few weeks prior. That game was Tate's coming out party.
I don't think the Bucks need to watch any video to remember how poorly they played. 3 or 4 linemen in particular were permanently demoted to 2nd on the depth chart because of that game, so I expect at least 20 or 25 returning Bucks have taken that loss personally and have been waiting 365 days for payback.

Yeah, that'd be the "whirly bird" or whatever they call it. I think that was less of unsportsmenlike celebration and more of "Holy [censored] we're tearing Ohio State a new ass."
Cause well, they did.
The Texas game will be great and all, but it's more of a spectacle to be witnessed. The Iowa game is more like a "let's get to business" pound our way through the Big 10 by opening with Iowa. The crowd's going to be pumped if not for any other reason than a shot at revenge. I just hope that revenge isn't the only thing fueling the team as that will lead to recklessness.
Assuming things are going good (IE a win over Texas, etc.), Iowa better show up big time, otherwise they're in for some [censored]. I have a good feeling that this will turn out to be one of those sleeper classic Big 10 games that's going to be shown on ESPN Classic for years and years.

1. I mind more that the Buckeyes looked like boys among men in that game. His celebrating was just him showing his emotions in an emotional game. (I didn't see the windmill dance, but it sounds pretty funny.)
2. What the hell is "the cabbage patch?"

I added a link to the video containing the "windmill dance" in my initial post in this thread.
