Wouldn't Carr DEFINITELY have a say if he's a part of the Athletic Dept?

Talk about Bizarro world. Didn't tOSU hire Cooper primarily, because he beat Michigan in a bowl game? I realize that you said lost to OSU, but those types of considerations are not the best reasons to hire someone, IMO.

The rift between Carr and Miles stems from Jai Eugene's recruiting I believe. Jai Eugene was a highly rated CB, maybe even the highest rated I forget, a few years ago. He was from Louisiana but committed to Michigan. Then he had a change of heart at his kid's birthday party or something and decided to stay in Louisiana and play for LSU. But rumors have been going around that Carr/UM might've had their feelings hurt a bit and this led to sour feelings towards Miles.
As for the guy who criticized Miles for running Hester a couple of times on 4th down against Florida... how can you criticize him if he won the game doing that?? As a Tigers fan, I don't think Carr's announcement could come at a worst time. Every game is super important from here on out for LSU, and instead it's going to be "Will Miles go to UM?" for the next few weeks. I personally didn't like the hiring of Miles here, especially after the awful loss to Tennessee his first year. But he's posted 10-2 records back to back, destroyed Miami and Notre Dame in bowl games, and may possibly win a NC in his third year. All that with some of the best recruiting classes LSU has ever had. So I've warmed up to him considerably and hope he stays, but even if he leaves I'm sure LSU will get a good coach. |

Because the fact that a win resulted does not mean the call(s) are suddenly good calls. It's true that some times people make the wrong decision and it works out... but, that does not make it a good call.

You're in need of a FG to win, only :03 on the clock. It's 4th and 8 at your opponent's 24 (31 yarder) You say "to hell with the FG" and toss a TD strike. Right call? Of course not. Even though it worked, it's the wrong [censored]ing call. Take the Auburn game.... Let's say the DB knocks that pass away.... How great of a call is it then? Florida sacks up and stops LSU on 4th and 1 at the 5 (where LSU needed only a FG) Still a good call? |

Why don't you post the situation like it was?
About a minute left in the game, your guy has already converted on 2 fourth downs. It's fourth and around two and they can't stop your guy. On the other hand, if you score a field goal the other team has a minute, some timeouts, and a running quarterback who can make his way into field goal range and beat you. Yes it's a gamble, but I didn't see too many people criticizing the Boise St coach for going for it instead of tying it up. |

It probably doesn't help Les Miles much that he voted Florida over Michigan last year for #2.
I'm sure there's a lot more to the Jai Eugene recruitment than we've heard about. Kids don't normally decomitt unless they just got the offer they were waiting for OR there's some dirty recruiting. (Urban Meyer anyone?) |

What happened to LSU's great D? No confidence in it? Feel you can't keep Tebow out of the EZ if you give him a minute? As for the Boise St. play, I don't know what you're talking about, so I can't comment. |

Because Oklahoma was the better team and Boise St. was putting it all on the line because of this.

I thought he was talking about something recent. If it's the Fiesta he's talking about, then my memory of it must be different than his, because I don't recall thinking the Boise St. hook and lateral was a bad call at all. (And not because it worked, or because Boise won....) I remember that being a 4th and long... and not in FG range... wasn't it?

I was talking about the statue of liberty play they did in OT.
And I have confidence in LSU's defense, just that I know how good Tebow is (as much as I hate to admit it) and with a minute left and timeouts they had a good shot at getting into field goal range. I fail to see why we are continuing to debate this when he won the game. See there are a lot of things you could criticize Miles about and I know he's a UM guy and I'm on an Ohio St forum so obviously he will be criticized a lot on here, but I just don't see how you can say he made a mistake by going for it on 4th when that won the game... But we can go back and forth forever doing this so I won't argue with you anymore about this. |

I'm certainly not disputing that LSU has gotten it done when it counted (save for one game) nor am I suggesting you shouldn't ben thrilled as a Tiger fan to be in the driver's seat. I'd also expect you to back your horse here (Miles) but I'm a little surprised the issue between "the right call" and a call that worked confounds you so. |
