They beat Illinois State 32 - 21. Here is what CFN says: If Iowa State plays Iowa like it played Illinois State, it'll get thumped by 40. The defense gave up too many big plays and there were way too many little mistakes that almost got the Cyclones beat. On the plus side, QB Bret Meyer had a strong game showing that he should grow into a better and better passer as the year goes on. However, the coaching staff can't be happy with a 2.2 yard-per-carry average against a DI-AA team and has to be nervous about how the secondary got beat deep too often.

S&G77: 8.5 spread for this game? you gotta be kidding. If we can get by Texas and PennState then the 8.5 spread might apply to the game with
the Hawkeyes when they come to columbus. I think Kirk Ferentz may have Tressels number. They will play us tough.
